Am searching for information on Conrad Gumble (1827-1898), who
emigrated from Germany, probably the Kassel region,
in the mid-1800's. He settled in northeastern Pennsylvania
with his wife, Dorothea Hemmerich (1830-1899), and raised a
large family. Conrad supposedly served in our Civil War. So
far I have been completely unable to find any further information
on him. I wonder if the name "Gumble" was changed or is a variation
of another name. "Gumble" does not seem to be a German name. Help!
