Does anyone out there have Gunst family who settled in Michigan in the late 1800?
My grandmother was adopted by Peter and Mary Gunst in Holland, MI around 1876. There is a record in Holland, MI for a Jacoba Gunst being adopted by Peter and Mary. The court won't send me the records because my grandmother went by the given name of Mamie and I can't prove Jacoba and Mamie are one and the same. Also, Peter is Mamie's uncle. Mamie was born in Allegan Co., MI and her biolgical father was born in Hanover, Germany. I think her mother was probably a Gunst.
