DNA test Request for Male Gurley's.

I am looking for Male Gurley's to do DNA testing on FamilytreeDNA.com The full test is about 200.00. It will allow the Gurley's to be placed in a "Clan" and more complete info will be available as to where the Gurley's originated from Currently Scotland/Ireland seems to be the place and down to the exact city. Barry McCain is heading the project Via The Ulster Project out of Oxford, Mississippi at The University. If you are interested. Please consider the testing, it will only help all of us. Remember to ALLOW posting of your results so they may be matched to other cousins in the chain.
Sincerely, keith Lipman Klemow-Gurley

Well if that I was told was true. The rape would have happened around Sept/Oct. of 1891 since Katherine was born 7/12/1892. Katherine was born in Switzerland County, IN. Her mother Clarissa Lampton Gurley didn't marry James Gurley till sometime after the rape happened.( I have seen several variations of her name including Terissa, Tessa I can't remember the others right now) was born and died in Switzerland County, IN. So I am assuming that it happened in (Southeastern) Switzerland County, IN.

I would love to talk with Loretta regarding Charles Devro Gurley - he is also my great great great grandfather. My great great grandfather is Levi Gurley. I grew up one mile away from the farm that he purchased in Rush County, Indiana in the early 1900's. My mother and grandmother were both rasied on that farm. I also live near the cemetery in which he is buried. One correction though - I do not beleive that Charles Devro is buried in that same cemetery. My Aunt has told me that he is buried in a small cemetery in eastern Hancock County, Indiana. She is going to take me there to show me his headstone. (I went out there and most of the stones you can not read).

I would love for you to respond via email so that I can learn more.

Thanks - Kelly Jones - Knightstown Indiana

Here's a transaction between Tyner and Gurley. You'd think with Gurley gone and his wife working with Nicholas that a Gurley would match a Tyner, if something was going on, instead of the Tyner matching the Gurley. The Tyner tester matched the Gurley so it would mean that a women was with a Gurley male and the son was raised as a Tyner.

Deed Book 2 (1704-1715), p. 24, says James Gurley in the County of Albemarle and the Province of Chowan sold land to Nicholas Tyner Sr. in Isle of Wight. He gave his wife the power of attorney to handle the sale to Nicholas in his absence. It was dated 12 April 1703.

Then somehow made it to Northampton, MA where the Rev. Soloman Stoddard family raised him. He married Hester Ingersoll. William died in the Conn. river May 1st 1687 @ the age of 22 . I have seen that there son was a week old I have also seen that he wasn't born for another couple of weeks. The son's name was Samuel. I would greatly appreciate and and all help.

As an additional side note to my last reply, when grandfather passed away, her grandmother sold the house to a family named "Young" on 28th St. in Indianapolis. My Mother relayed this fact to me today when I told her about the posting. Thaddeus was her grandfather. I'm not sure about the time since my Mother is now 84 years old. Are you related to the "Youngs" who purchased the house? I have pictures of Thaddeus and Eva Mary, his second wife. I have also pursued the genealogy of the Gurley family for my Mother. I did not know Thaddeus since he had already passed away before I was born. I did know my Great Grandmother, Eva Gurley.

I am descended from Thomas C. Gurley and Celicia Beale his second wife. Paulina "Polly" Betz was his first wife and they had a daughter named Gladys. Paulina died in 1897. Thomas C. Gurley is my great, great grandfather on my Mother's side. He and Celicia had Thaddeus Steven Gurley, and Florence, Schuyler, Myrtle. Their son, Thaddeus, married Eva Mary Schaefer. They had two daughters, Mary Eva and Elizabeth Celicia who is my grandmother. I'm not sure what proof you need to establish relationship. They all lived in Indianapolis, Indiana. I would love to have this family Bible if you still have it.

Re: G. W. Gurley and Celesta May Gurley (daughter)

My name is Ginger Anne Gurley(maiden name) Davis Lee. George Washington Gurley and Cynthia Emilene were my great grandparents. They had Oscar, Celesta, Maggie, Della, Ella, and John Thomas Gurley. John Thomas was married to Cora Ann Germany and they were my grandparents. They only had one son, George Willis Gurley which was my Dad. He married Florene Robbins and they had three children--Ginger Anne, Carolyn Kay and Twila Dee.

Of course, you know that Celesta married Oscar Gurley and they had Jimmy, Charles, Wanda, Leonard, Margie, Lynn and Donald.

Oscar Gurley married Elizabeth ? and they had one daugher, Mary Lou and she married Fred Berry. As far as I know, they had two children, Joey and Stephanie.

Maggie married Edward McMillan and they had three children--Helen, Johnny and Edward.

Ella married Delmar Dean and they had Robert, Lou Ella (Betty), and Laverne.

Della Gurley was married once, but don't know who to. It was before my time. Everyone always called her the old maid.

I lived next door to my grandparents and great grandparents when I was little. I continued to live by my grandparents until I was grown, then I got married.

I am 73 years old and my first husband, Windell E. Davis, died of cancer in 1995. I remarried my school sweetheart in 2004--Jesse F. Lee and we live in San Angelo, Texas.
I have tried everything in the world to trace the family, but I guess I don't have enough knowledge.

I knew all the people listed above very well. My sisters, Kay and Twila used to play with Lynn and Donald when they would visit John and Cora. I believe Jimmy was more my age. I have lost track of everyone now. So glad to hear from someone. Hopes this helps you. I believe most of the relative are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger, but not sure.

Thanks.
