BROOKSTON -- Cornelia Adriana "Cornie" Gust, 73, of Brookston, died at 12:50 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, in her home.

Born Oct. 25, 1932, to the late Cornelius and Orena Egbert Van Boven in Huntingburg, she was a longtime resident of Logansport and moved to Brookston in 2001.

Her marriage was to Raymond Gust, and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gust enjoyed decorating, and had made a living painting and wallpapering in the Logansport area.

Surviving are her six children, Gerri Erbaugh (husband: Roger) and Joni Eatmon, both of Brookston, Sarah Barton (husband: Richard) and Ann Downham Stroup (husband: Phillip), both of Collierville, Tenn., Chuck Hiatt (wife: Karen) of Albion, Mich., and John Hiatt (wife: Deb) of Logansport; and three sisters, Betsy Stephens (husband: George) of Logansport, Gerry Gray (husband: John) of Indianapolis and Jodie Barnard (husband: Dave) of Prescott, Ariz.

She was full of energy and life and was dearly loved by her children and grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at Brookston Federated Church, 2nd & Wood Street, Brookston, the Rev. Dr. Lelan D. McReynolds officiating. Graveside rites will be held in Logansport at Ever-Rest Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m. Also surviving are her 13 grandchildren, Drew Ott (wife: Debbie), Kees Hiatt, Kim Hiatt, Sarah Hiatt, Aaron Babb, Alex Barton, Andrew Barton, Adam Barton, Alexandra Stroup, Makenzie Stroup, Stephanie Hunt (husband: Andy), John Tyler Hiatt and Jamie Reese (wife: Mary); 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 1 grandchild, Brian Reese; and a brother, John Van Boven. Donations may be made in her memory to the Brookston Federated Church and sent c/o the Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home, PO Box 509, Brookston, IN 47923.
