Calvin Guthrie, who was from Winston County,Alabama, served in the First Alabama, a UNION regiment. His records prove that he was in this unit when he died. The 2nd Cherokee Mounted Riflemen was a CONFEDERATE unit. The two Calvin Guthrie's are different men.
