Update: I now believe that "Peter" Weinand was not the first name; his name was more likely "Jacques" or "Jacob". His wife's name was indeed Louisa Gutjahr. She and her brother, Jacob Gutjahr, immigrated from Germany to Oklahoma Territory in 1881. Jacob Gutjahr later moved to Stranger Township, Leavenworth County, Kansas and married Mary Binder. They had 2 daughters, Marie and Louisa.

I apologize for the long delay in a reply. Kristie, I had to exacuate my home in La because of Katrina. I would very much like to have information on the Gutjahrs. I can only go back as far as 1840-1860 . I am looking for the birthplace and parents of Frederick Gutjahr (Goodyear) and Helena Hauffmann later records show her as Lena Hoffman. I have records of their son Dietrich Goodyear and my grandfather George F Goodyear. Frederick, Dietrich and George were all in boating on the Mississippi River. Thanks! if you would like to contact me my cell is sprint 504-319-4889 or email your phone # and I will call you.
Linda

Hello Susan,
My husband's greatgrandfather was Peter Weinand, and his wife's name was Louisa. She may have been a Gutjahr, as her sister's name was Mary Gutjahr. They lived in Guthrie, OK, when their children were young, but Louisa may have been from Leavenworth or Lawrence, KS. At least two of their children were born in Kansas City, MO. It is my understanding that both Peter and Louisa are buried at Guthrie. As I learn more I will keep you informed.

They cme ober from Germany in the 1700's. They settled in PA, and some moved to Ohio. I have seen it with different spellings. I have a book on the Goodyear line from whence I come. If you wish, I can give you as much information as possible. Luther

GUTFAHR

Im at a total standstill with my maternal grandfather's family. Im finding no traces of the GUTFAHR surname which has led me to believe maybe the name was changed. My grandfather, Arthur George Henry Gutfahr b. August 24, 1918 probably in CHicago, IL was the only son of WILLIAM GUTFAHR, who married Mildred DOES, in which I have no other information on except he might have died in Florida. My grandmother's side of the family are all descendents from Luxembourg immigrants and eventually moved to Chicago and other towns in Illinois after first settling in Ozaukee County, Wisconsin. I have most of her line done. William Gutfahr and Mildren Does divorced in the late 20's early 30's. I believe William Gutfahr was Lutheran. I have no idea if he remarried, or went on to have more children. My email address is bryans@jobe.net ~Susan
