I have a letter written by Amanda Guyer to her sister, Mollie Marshall Elliott (Mary Frances - wife of Isaac Francis Elliott) possibly sent from Texas?
Dear Sister,
I have been thinking of writing to you a long time as Miria has riten to the girls. I will rite you a note this leaves us all well but myself. I got throad from a horse and got hurt to weeks ago. Dont now when I will get eveit am no dangerously hurt but my back and hip pains me all the time corn wheat and eats are fine this year wheat is only worth fifty sents a bushel eats 15 corn 40 cotin is a pore crop times is hard no monie in country nor wont be this year cottin is the money here we have got in about 16 achers, and it will push it to make fore bales. I got a letter from Miria there were all well and having plenty of rain it has ben dry here ever since the 20 of June it sprinkled a littel this morning but not enough to lay the dust we will rais enough to live on I haven't heard from the boys since May they dont answere my letters I am going to send them a card to day Miria ais she would not send her pictur but I will it is a good pictur she sent like the way she is seting but her picture are good and we are to hard run to have pictures taken any time we go to town you all must send us all of yours it wont cost but one cent to put them all in an invelop and do it. I got foure sent that way send them soone wee will live at brownwood Crown Co. next yeare rite sone and give us all the nuse no more at present
