Joseph F. Guzik
Joseph F. Guzik, 90, of Latrobe,
died Sunday, July 3, 2011,
in Excela Health Latrobe Hospital.
He was born April 2, 1921, in Latrobe,
a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Kopetski) Guzik. Joseph was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church,
where he served as an usher and altar server for funerals. He was retired from Latrobe Steel Co., and was a former union officer and member of Local 1537. He was a member and former board director of Lesco Federal Credit Union. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Forces. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Daniel P. Nolan Council 940, Latrobe, and the St. Vincent Assembly of the Fourth Degree and its color corps. He was a member of the White Eagles Club, the White House Club, Loyalhanna, Besides his parents,
he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, John and Walter Guzik;
and a sister, Sophia Schulan. Joseph is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann J. (Nolan) Guzik;
two daughters, Karen A. Houck, of Greensburg, and Janet M. Jamison and her husband, Joseph, of Latrobe; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Houck and his wife Sherry, Jennifer Welty, Joseph Jamison and his wife Nicole, Jeanine Solo and her husband John, and Jonathan Jamison; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexa, Erin, Brady, Ryan, Roman, Jocelyn, Ava and Sean. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Members of the St. John Rosary Altar Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. The Knights of Columbus Council 940 and St. Vincent Assembly will hold services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Military services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Friday in the funeral homeA funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. John the Evangelist Church with the Rev. Anthony Carbone as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
