Classification: Query
Surnames: Guzzardo, Gargano, Franco (The Greek/Albanian Ones), Clesi, Shiro, Amodeo, Manale, Cutitto
I've always wondered if there's a connection between those of us with "Guzz" surnames.
My Guzzardo ancestors came from Contessa Entellina, Sicily; an Arberesh enclave. There are Guzzetta's and Guzzardi's in these villages as well.
It would be very interesting if some males from the Guzzetta and Guzzardi families did the Y-DNA test to see if we're related way back.
I did the test some time back and an exact match is yet to materialize. The closest is a one-step match but the person was adopted and doesn't know what his biological surname is.
There are a few trails and theories I'm pursuing but some more DNA results would provide better clues.
If anyone (Male with a Guzz surname) wants to get the Y-DNA tests done, go to www.familytreedna.com and order at least 25 or 37 marker test. It's really fascinating stuff.
Ciao Cousins!
