Hello, I've changed my email and thought I would refresh the information that I originally put on this board.

I'm living in Scarborough now, was in Lindsay, and since I'm only a hop skip and a jump from the Markham and area cemeteries I would love it if somebody would send me the information on where the Haacke's settled up there and the names of the places they were buried.

I did have it all on paper, but some of my paperwork went into storage when I moved and I don't have it handy.

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Cheers,
Marilyn

Edmund Haake

While searching for information about my ggg grandfather, Ferdinand Camp, I came across a will extract of Edmund Haake of Akron, Summit, Ohio. The date of this will is 1873 or possibly 1878. My relative, Ferdinand, was mentioned as a stepson to Mr. Haake, and Ferdinand was appointed executor to the will. Two grandchildren were mentioned as heirs, with last names of Witner. Although I have searched various censuses for him, I can find no other information on Edmund Haake.

Edmund Haake is the only clue I have to finding information on the parents and possibly siblings of my relative. Have you come across any Haakes that emigrated from Prussia between 1838 and 1873 or so. Please contact me at ddframe@lvcm.com.

The man who owns Haacke.com is my cousin, Mark. He is the one who originally told us about Gish, even gave me a picture (digitally.) The problem is, she is purported to be my grandfather's twin, and we have no knowledge of her at all. All of my grandfather's living children have no knowledge of this, and they are sure that if he did have a twin, he did not know about it. There is no record of this person at our local courthouse, where my grandfather's birth certificate is filed. Yet Mark insists this person is a twin. Admittedly, she looks like our side of the family, but surely she fits in somewhere else in the line. Just looking for clues-
Thanks for your suggestion-
Christy

In cruising the net, I came upon this inquiry. My family background includes the surname Haacke, from eastern Canada in the mid- 1800`s. I see a Captain Haacke is from southeren Ontario in the early 1800`s, but cannot trace anymore than that. Would you be able to point me in the right direction to more Haacke sites?
Debra, I do remember Aunt Myrtle. The last time I saw her was at my sister Doris Watson's on Range Rd. in Port Huron, MI during the 70's I think, at some party. She was with either her daughter or her granddaughter, I don't remember. I also remember from when we would have the Haacke family reunions when we were young. Did you ever attend one? I have some information about some of these reunions and pictures.

Angela, I'm a descendant of Capt. David Haacke, he was my great-great-great grandfather. I came from Fulton County, IL where he was born. The line is David had a son John. John had a daughter, Barbara who married Ed Strode, they had a daughter Minnie. Minnie Strode married Lloyd Shields. Lloyd and Minnie had a daugher, Dixie. Dixie Shields married Ronald Newton, my parents. Have some dates for you as well. Would love to hear from you, are you related to Capt. David Haacke?

Hi Angela, my e-mail is back to working. I am a direct descendant of Capt. David Haacke--can't wait to see the information you have when you get unpacked. Here is my line--Capt. David Haacke and Mahala (Louderback) Newton had a son John Haacke. John Haacke married Eva Waddell. They had a daughter, Barbara "Goose" Haacke. Barbara "Goose" Haacke married Silas Edward Strode, they had a daughter, Minnie Christina Strode. Minnie Christina Strode married Lloyd Wilson Shields, they had five children including my mother, Dixie Lee Shields. Dixie Lee Shields married Ronald Marion Newton and they had three children including me, David Newton. I was born on June 25, 1961. I have quite a bit of info on the Haacke family line. But don't have much on Capt. David Haacke's parents or grandparents. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, David Newton.

Hi Mark,

I was surprised to finally get a reply to my
message. I went to visit my dad a couple
of weeks ago, this is the first time I had seen him in 17 years. He is doing great.
Sometimes you get so wrapped up in
the day to day happenings in your life that
you forget how important family is. The
older I get the more questions I have, I
want to know everything. In my visit with
Dad he filled me in on Uncle Bob, I was
so sorry to hear that he had passed away. Bob and his family are the only ones
I have any clear memory of. He said everyone else was doing fine. I
saw the picture of all the brothers and sisters made a couple of years ago in
Toronto. I was happy to know that he was
in touch with his brothers and sisters. I
will be seeing him often now. I know very
little about my Haacke grandparents. I
would appreciate any info you have. I have not been able to figure out how to
get your email address from this message
board. My email address is jamesw@gvtc.com. I am looking forward
to hearing from you.

Patty

Frank Haacke is my grandfather. The information that you have so far is correct. I know that Stella Rose Haacke came from Canada and spoke very little english. Elsie and Frank also had a brother named Wilfred Haacke born Feb 21 1911 and died Nov 1981. I could be wrong, but I think that there is a another sister and another brother. It looks like we are looking for the same line of Haacke's. Please let me know if you find any more information.
