J. C. Haake, Died 10/17/1884, San Francisco, Ca

HAAKE--J.C. HAAKE, a ship chandler living at 622 Twenty third Street, San Francisco, while attempting to board a Market Street cable car Thursday evening at Sixth Street, missed his footing and fell, one of the wheels of the car passing over the left leg below the knee, causing a compound fracture of the limb. The injured man was moved to the Receiving Hospital, where he was attended by the Police Surgeon. He was almost frantic with pain and grief at the thought of the trouble his misfortune would cause his wife and family of twelve children, one of whom is only a week old, He did not seem to rally from the terrible effects of shock to his system and lingered in great pain, dying at 4:30 o' clock Friday morning [17 Oct 1884]. He was a German, 51 years of age." Source: Sacramento Bee, 18 Oct 1884.

Cynthia, If you found your Haake/Felsman family in Montana, we're definately related. I recently received a note from my 3rd cousin Eugene Felsman that you had been in contact with him confirming that Adolph and Caroline Haake had a daughter Mary. I have a wealth of information that Eugene has shared with me. Contact me, Wendy Caldwell, at Lawskate@comcast.net for more info.
Charles JH Haake, b. Germany 1874

Hi all :). I'm looking for information on Charles Haake who was born in Oldenburg, Germany in about 1874. He immigrated to Chicago in 1886 and was married to Minnie who immigrated from the same area of Germany in 1889. As far as I know they had children named Ruth MJ and Paul T. There might have been others.

I'm researching my Fittje relations here in the states and they also came from Oldenburg, Apen, Vreschen-Bokel, and Augustfehn to be specific. On the 1920 census for Chicago there is a Henry Fittje listed as living with the Haake family. It's stated that he would be Charles' uncle.

Any help or insight into this family would be great!

This would be possible if your John Haake died and she were a widow. As you gave no dates it is hard to tell. My John and Charlotte (Haake) Turner had a son born 24 June 1887, possibly in Massachusetts. Does this date fit yours?

Edmund Haake

While searching for information on the parents/siblings of my ggg grandfather, Ferdinand Camp, I came across the name of his step-father, Edmund Haake, who died in Akron, Ohio, in 1878, according to the Will Extract. Heirs named in the will were minor grandchildren, Stella and William Witner. Apparently, Edmund's daughter and Ferdinand's mother pre-deceased Edmund.

Has anyone come across an Edmund? I have searched censuses for him with no luck. I know Ferdinand came immigrated in 1838-39 as a child from Bremen, Prussia. I do not know who he came with, where he entered, or where he grew up. I do know he worked for the railroad most of his adult life. Edmund is the only key I have to finding out about my ancestor. If you can help me, please contact me at ddframe@lvcm.com. Thank you.
Hello! I am looking for information on John Haake, born November 11, 1855 who married Anna Albers, born February 9, 1863. They came to Germantown, IL before they had their children. I am attempting to trace back my ancestors to where they were from in Germany...my grandfather said Dusseldorf....? They had a son, Lawrence H., born Feb. 8, 1903 (in the US) who married Helen Knipemann. I was also informed that my great-great grandparents may have taken the name Haake when they bought that farm but originally had a last name of Stugert (sp?). If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated!
