Lyndsey;

My great grandfather was named Haaken Haawkinson ( the spelling could be altered and often was by officials when registering for any number of official situations.) You are wise to check as many variationsof the names as possible.

I too am trying to find information to put together a family history. I am not a student, but an adult, living in Canada and I have found that almost any information is worth checking out. The reason is that because of the varying levels of education and services back when these people were around names and dates can be varied and then the errors copied for years.

My great grandfather came from Norway and was around in the 1800's. My grandfather (named Chris and that could have been Christ, Christian or any number of variations) was born in Iowa, He married in Fillmore County around 1900. Haakon's wife was named Christiana. I will have to dig for more information but if any of this rings a bell with your grandfather or connects to your history, please post a message and let me know. where are your relatives from? What state/county did they live in, and what country did they originate from?

Good luck with your project....I hope this isn't all too late.

Norma
