I am descended from Robert Haar. His daughter Edna was my great great grandmother. She had a sister, Rebecca, and 4 brothers-Luke, Bill, George, and John. I have pictures of Edna, Edna's gravestone, Rebecca, John, and George if you would like to see them.

Scratch that. My previous post is referring to the other picture I posted, and not the one in this thread. For the Cicero Haar family photo that I referred to, see the other post.

I am not sure of the date of this picture. My g-grandfather appears to be a teen so I would guess around the same time...turn of the century. The patriarch in this picture is John A. Haar, the first child of Cicero and Rebecca...and my g-g-grandfather.

For me to do a paternal DNA line in this family, I am actually going to need to hunt down the children of those other two boys in the photo. My g-grandfather and grandfather had all girls (except my grandfather), so i have to do some hunting to find that Y chromosome. If anyone out there has a male in the family who is a direct all-male descendant of Cicero, please let me know.

Yes. The old man in the photo is Cicero, son of George. I have a newpaper article of a family reunion at home that seems to be the time this was taken as Jack was making a rare visit to PA. Based on that, this is sometime around 1900 which would place Cicero in his 60's...which looks about right. I can get you a date on the article later once i have time to go through my clippings.

By popular demand I am posting the photos that I have of the Haars in PA (Latimore Twp).

The first photo(HAAR2.jpg) is hand-notated as George and Sarah Haar. I am suspicious as they look quite a bit like Cicero and Rebecca, but I can only go with what I am told.

The second photo(HAAR1.jpg) is of Cicero and Rebecca (Wolf) Haar and all of their children. The only ones I know for sure who is who is Cicero and Rebecca of course, upper left corner is Robert, lower right corner is John (my gg-grandfather), and the only daughter Josephine. The remaining children, though I don't know which are which, must be Charles, William, Allen, Daniel, and Paul.

These photos were given to me by a relative and not sure of the dates. I would know the face of my gg-grandfather anywhere though. There was an article published once about a family reunion around 1900 or so where my gg-grandfather was visiting from MN. My guess is that is when the second picture was taken.

These are the smaller versions of the pics. I will have larger versions uploaded to my Flickr account soon for viewing. For now, let me know if these are helpful.

My mother just sent me this. Not sure where she got it. My g-g-grandfather Jack has such a distinct look that I can recognize him in any photograph.

Jack, my g-g-grandfather is the son of Cicero Haar and Sarah. He moved west as an adult from PA to MN and settled in White Bear.

Here are the names, as indicated by my mother:

Sitting: Myrtle (child), Louisa (Rohfling), John (Jack) Haar
Standing: Howard, George (my g-grandfather), Hazel, Trix, Harold

Not exactly sure who Trix is. Probably a nickname. I have to be at home with my records to know for sure. Did not want to wait to post this though.

Howard HAAR (MN)

Okay..this is a tough one. This man is my great-grandfather who died in a railroad accident when my grandfather was 8. I know that there were some Pennsylvania Dutch relatives, but that is about it. Married a woman named Katherine FADDEN (or MCFADDEN), no one is sure about the last name here. Any info would be appreciated.

Yes...Cicero was an only child as far as I know. I don't know where David would fit in. I don't have him listed as one of the children of Cicero and Sarah. I am very interested in the information that you have. Also, if you are interested, I have a family picture of Cicero and Sarah with the grown children. Feel free to email me at: mplspagan@hotmail.com. Also, if you have access to aol my screename is BostonPagan.
Looking for information on - or descendants of – Dell Roy HARR (HAAR) and wife, Nora D. HARR who were living in Rochester at 26 Rosalind Street at the time of the 1920 census. They had two children, Lucy (age 5) and Ruth (age 2) both born in NYS. DelRoy was my grandmother's brother and the son of David Haar (Harr) and Emma Buckingham Haar. Dell lived in different parts of the country, believe he was born in IL in 1889. Lived in Los Angeles in later years. Would love to hear from anyone to whom this sounds familiar!!!

thanks,
Patti
I would like to have any information on descending lines from this marriage.

Rayond A. Haar and Salome Garrison, I believe they married in New Orleans but by 1955 they were living in Baton Rouge, LA.

1930 census Salome is still living with her mother in New Orleans and at this time Salome was 26, I have not located Raymond A. on any census for sure.

I'm working Garrison descending lines. Other names that might connect to this would be McNeil, and Paiiasel all of New Orleans.

I placed this marriage with a death obit for Claude E. Garrison in Dec 1955.

Tks
Brenda

George Haar, father of Cicero, was my gggg uncle. He was born sometime between 1804 and 1808 and died 25 November 1891. I have not found his burial place. He was married to Sarah Doll, who may have been the daughter of Conrad Doll. She was born between 1812 and 1814 and died 17 February 1887. George and Sarah were married 25 Decmeber 1834.

George and Sarah were both from Abbottstown, Adams County, Pennsylvania at the time of their marriage. They lived in Berwick Township, Adams County, in 1850. They were in Paradise Township, York County, in 1860 and in Latimore Township, Adams County in 1880, next door to Cicero and his family.

George's parents were George Haar (1778-1837) and Susanna Doll (1784-ca 1852). I am descended from their son, Jesse.

I have some more information on the Haars, if you are interested. Please contact me. I would also love more information on the Doll side of the family.

Vanessa
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~vstern

Linda--Most if not all the Haars in Sandusky and Wood Co. end up being related. Maria Engel Weigman Haar had 10 kids and I think there were something like 8 who survived and emigrated to the US. If not from her immediate family, then from the one generation further back, which was a Haar who was married to a Heckman. If it is OK, I can email you some of the info directly to see if it helps you. There were many John Haars and more than one Martin so be careful with dates, etc,

HAAR in Sandusky, Ottawa, Wood Co., Ohio

There is some info on the family at the library in Elmore, Ohio that pieces most of the folks in NW Ohio together. We knew Angelina and some of her children came from Germany abt 1850. Just saw info that there were 10 children and some emigrated abt 3 years later. The family names are a maze without a blueprint for sure as they are so similar. Seems Angelina was a nickname and nee Wiegman. That opens up another whole line, folks. Then in the previous Haar generation the wife was a Heckman. There have been some terrific people in the family trying to connect all this and I, for one, an=m very grateful for there efforts, When I get it straight in my own head, I plan to get it into the computer. Hope this lead helps anybody on a serious quest. My next quest is into the Stabal, Lohr and Ruger branches. Wish me luck! Sandy
