Nicholas Haddon was my 3rd Great-Grandfather. I descend from his son Sterling who married Mary Emily "Molly" Jones. Their daughter, Caroline Lee "Carrie" Haddon married Edward Owen Sanford. Their daughter Bessie Lee Sanford (my grandmother) married Eugene Rutledge Browning. Their son, Eugene Sanford Browning, was my Dad. I have Eli's wife's name as Eleanor Katherine "Goldie" McNamee. My e-mail address is ChezSquif@aol.com. Please contact me and I will send you a genealogy report on the Haddon family. I also have some pictures. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello. We must be realted.
My ggrandfather was Eli Nicholas Haddon. I thought his wife was Elenor. My grandfather was James. James married Dorothy Steiger and lived in Chicago. Raymond was James' brother. I seem to remember Raymond's family living in Florida.
I don't know too much information. From doing research, I have found out that Sterling Abernathy was Eli's father and Nicholas Hadden (1793)was before him. Do you know if this is correct? This is where my research seems to end. It gets confusing because the Haddons used to be the Hadden's. If you have any information or photos I would love to see them.
From what I know about my ggrandfather, he was a printer.

Thanks for all your help.

I don't have much information to offer, but happy to correspond if you're still working on the project and it might help.

I think we may have the same line. My grandfather was GORDON JOSEPH HADDON (1919-2004). His father was JOSEPH HADDON (occupation listed as 'Gardener' on Gordon and Betty SMITH's marriage certificate (1942). JOSEPH was married to Amy SMART. As the story goes (family heresay), JOSEPH and Amy separated over their daughter's choice of husband. Apparently, he was quite a stern, stubborn person. He died in Newtown, NSW in 1945.

Could this be the JOSEPH you are enquiring about?

Regards,
Tricia Haddon

He was my 4th great-grandfather. He was the son of James and Elizabeth. He was the nephew of Samuel Haddon (who at one time lived in Phil., but he died in New Jersey). James Haddon is the main beneficiary in his uncle's will. Also, James Haddon's sister may've been named Elizabeth Kraft as she is also mentioned as a niece in Samuel Haddon's will. Perhaps someone out there knows something about this family's origins and history in England. If so, I would really be interested in exchanging what else I know. Thanks.

John Haddon of Wollston, Northants.

I am looking to find the first name of John Haddon of Wolston's wife. Wolston was in County Warwickshire. She was a Cartwright, born in Northampton. John & his wife were probably born in the first quarter of the 1600s. John was the son of Thomas Haddon of Oxford. Their son the Rev. Peter Haddon was born 1649 and died in 1721. He was the vicar of Wolston in 1680 and later the vicar of Bolton-le-Moors in 1691. He was the cousin of Thomas Cartwright, Bishop of Chester, and his chaplain. Peter's mother was Aunt Haddon in Thomas Cartwright's Diary. It's a bit confusing as Peter had a son John, the Rector of Warrington, and John had a son Peter (1737-1815, vicar of Sandbach, Cheshire, vicar of Leeds and prebendary of Ripon). They were all, I think, acclaimed ministers.

Annie Clements Haddon and her twin sister Eliza Clements Haddon, born 17 feb 1865 in Kings Norton, Worcestershire, U.K. (near Birmingham) to father Thomas Haddon and mother Mary Ann Clements. Both girls went on a trip to the USA, prob. Virginia. Eliza came home (before 1891 census)but Annie stayed. What happened to her? Did she marry and have children? If you know of an Annie Clements or Annie Haddon who moved to Virgina between about 1883 and 1891, I would love to know more.

Sorry, no I don't think so. I am searching for descendants of Joseph Haddon b.c. 1846 Leicester ENG. According to the NSW death index his parents were John & Elizabeth. I don't know when he came to South Australia (SA) but in 1879 he was Steward on the S.S. Emu between Adelaide & Sydney then in 1881 he was Chief Steward on the S.S. Euro when it sank near Beachport SA, he survived. After the Euro sank he served as steward on the S.S. Ferret. In 1879 he married Mary Tabitha Keech, daughter of Solomon Keech, in Adelaide. They had 3 children born at Birkenhead & Staplehurst SA then about 1886 the family moved to NSW where 2 more children were born. The children were Joseph C 1879-1945, Frederick 1880-1933, Albert W 1883-1939, Edith B 1886-, Solomon J 1888-1942. Directories show in 1887 the steward Joseph Haddon living in Balmain Rd Leichhardt NSW, & in 1906 Joseph sen was at 38 Brown St Newtown NSW. Joseph sen d. 1922 Newton NSW & Mary d. 1936 Newtown NSW.
Haddon/Hadden Elliott Connection Virginia, Indiana, Texas

I am trying to make a connection between the Haddons who came from Virginia to Sullivan County, Indiana and on to Texas in the 1820s and my Hadden/Elliott relatives. Colonel John Elliott (born in Virginia 1760) was married to an Isabella Elliott (born abt 1770). They later moved to Indiana. They had several sons; among them were John, Jr. who reportedly went to Texas sometime before 1845 and William Randolph Haddon (born 1805). My ggg grandparents were also Haddens and Elliotts: My ggg grandfather was Thomas William Elliott,(born 1829 in Virginia) and ggg grandmother was Elizabeth "Betsy" Hadden (born abt. 1831 in Texas). They named their daughter Isabella. I believe Elizabeth Hadden's brother's name was William R. Hadden of Indiana and he was listed as a schoolteacher on the 1860 Census and was living with Betsy Hadden and her husband in Matagorda County, TX. This cannot be a coincidence! Can anyone help me make this connection? Thanks!

I have a Charles Haddon in my family. They are from the Lambeth, Surrey area. The father was Charles Abalsom Haddon. He married my great aunt Catherine Caroline Roach in 1872. They had three boys. Charles William, Ernest, and Joseph Henry. Charles William married a Sarah Elizabeth Goodsen and Joseph married a Minnie Rose Jones. They had a son born in 1900 by the name of Joseph Ernest. I dont't think Ernest ever married. Catherine Caroline died in 1886 at the age of 35 and I don't think her husband ever married again. He is still alive in the 1901 census. Do any of these names ring a bell.

Susan
