In the 1879 Census there are a number of
Hadfields living Kings County NY (just west
of Brooklyn).
1.Burrows Hadfield 1860 1870
2.Ellen Hadfield
3.George Hadfield b. 22 Aug 1830 d
22 March 1881 in Fall River, Mass.
4.Sarah Hadfield
5.Alfred Hadfield
all from 5W Brooklyn Kings County NYC.
I am almost positive that the George is of
the line that moved to Fall River, MA. He had long been rumored to have lived in NYC before moving to Fall River. Also living with them is a Margaret Webster, who if the same, married James Gillibrand (from England)and whose daughter Mary married James Hadfield (grandson of English James) 30 May 1897. The rest of the Hadfield listed must be family as they all lived in the same location. In fact Burrows may have been an older brother as he appears ten years earlier (1860) than the rest.
Has any Hadfield researchers followed up any
of these lines. I have thoroughly researched the George line. If I am correct these are the children of James (b~1805) and Mary Hadfield (daughter of a Jonathan and Mary (no last name)of Dukinfield England.
I look forward to any response on this.
