Elizabeth Hedley – Humphry Audley

Elizabeth Hadley (1779 – 1846) is my g-g-g-g-grandmother. She was the wife of Moses Brown (1779 – 1843). They were both born and lived in North Carolina but migrated to Harrison County, Missouri and eventually died and are buried there. Thanks to the fact that they were Quakers, it has been very easy to research them for the most part.

Elizabeth Hadley was the daughter of Thomas Hadley (1756 – 1822).
Thomas was the son of Simon Hadley (1737 – 1803)
Simon was the son of Joshua Hadley (1703 – 1772).
Joshua was the son of Simon Hadley (1675 – 1756).
Simon was the son of Simon Hadley (1640 – 1711).
Simon was the son of James Hadley (1614 – 1694).
James was the son of Richard Hadley (1595 – 1675) and Philipa Audley (1596 – 1666).

The problem I am having is with Philipa Audley, mother to James Hadley. She seems to be very well documented and I have found reference to her in quite a few texts. Her parents are always listed as Humphrey Audley (abt 1435 – 1471) and Elizabeth Courtenay (abt 1430 – 1493). I see this information listed over and over as fact, but the problem is that Humphry Audley died in 1471, 125 years before Philips Audley was born.

I am obviously missing something! Can anyone set me straight on this and point me in the right direction?

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
