I am looking for substantive information about Content Hadsall the daughter of James Hadsell of the Wyoming Valley massacre. In the Michael Shoemaker Book pg 516 it says she married an Ebenezer Reynolds, who was wounded in June 1778 by the Tories and Indians and escaped capture, presumably as part of the Wyoming Valley Massacre. Reynolds was on the tax lists of Exeter in 1792. Before 1793 Ebenezer and Content Reynolds sold her interest in her father's property.

In his book "The Wilderness War" Allan W. Eckert descrbes Ebenezer Reynolds' wife as Sarah Hadsall. Eckert erred in naming Daniel Carr's wife as Rachel Hadsall when in fact Daniel's wife was Amy Hadsell who was the sister of Content. If Eckert made an error with Amy, he probably did with Content, also.

Many genealogies on line say that Content Hadsall married Asa Eggleston in 1786 and had 11 children between 1787 and 1814 all with Asa. Those same genealogies say that Content was married twice to Eggleston and to Reynolds. Based on Content's age of 18 to Eggleston and based on the fact that Content and Reynolds were married and selling off land before 1793, I doubt that the Content Hadsall daughter of James Hadsall and his wife Content Warden was the same Content Hadsell who married Ebenezer Reynolds. It seems that there must have been two Content Hadsalls. Does anyone have anything on this. thanks

Leslie
