Wow. Reading through this thread was educational. I've known for quite some time about my ancestors from Wisconsin, although not many of them know about the few of us who have been in California since my grandfather brought the family here in the 1950's. The story about your interaction with the relatives in Germany was awesome. I had taken a trip down the Rhine in 1998, and asked a woman if she had ever encountered my surname. She told me my name was a "SCHWEIZER NAME!" At the time, I thought about how my ancestors had probably inhabited the area I traveled, but little did I know that I was walking the regions of my fathers and mothers. I am jealous that you were able to stay with the German relatives. I hope to do the same someday. Are you able to send me the map of Jungholz, and perhapes, the contact information fo our relatives?
