SALEM – “Mary Lou Loudon passed on from our lives on Saturday, May 12, 2012
Born Mary Lucille Haessly in Salem, Ohio on Sept. 21, 1929, she was the third of four children, born to Arthur Leo and Mae (Gallagher) Haessly.
Mary Lou will be deeply missed by her two sisters, Donna Rose Mort of Sharon, Pa. and Marjorie Ann Brubeck of Baltimore, Md. and her brother, William John Haessly of Staunton, Virginia.
A resident of Salem, OHIO for most of her life, Mary Lou was a graduate of Salem High School (1947), where she was a vocalist and majorette with the marching band.
She performed with the Tom Williams Orchestra in high school and was a member of the “Sub-Debs,” where she encountered some of her dearest, lifelong friends. She continued this early love of music and the arts throughout her life.
She met and married Henry Ford Loudon, and they wed in 1949. Henry preceded her in death in 1988.
Together, they reared seven children, Timothy (Barb) Loudon of Salem, Henry (Deb) Loudon of Salem, Krista (Ben) Suffron of Columbus, Ohio, Linda Haller of Dublin, Ohio, Laura (Dave) Nestic of Salem, Marcia (Mike) Cope of Lakewood, Colo., and Lisa Willaman of New Middletown, OH.
Mary Lou will always be remembered to those that knew her as awoman who radiated warmth, positivity, humor, compassion for others and love.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Church and board member of the YWCA, and was a business partner, with her husband, where she worked and built a family business, Loudon Ford Lincoln Mercury beginning in Hanoverton and later Salem, OH.
Memorial contributions can be made to her favorite charities, Salem Community Foundation offering Human Services, Scholarships, Mobile Meals and Food for Children, and SAFCO, aiding residents of Salem and Northern Columbiana County in financial need.
Her burial took place on Friday, May 18, 2012
She was laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery in Salem, OH
