MARYANN HAGAR Maryann Hagar, 77, a retired accountant, of Las Vegas, passed away April 8, 2009. She was born June 27, 1931, in Omaha, Neb., and was a 42-year resident of Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Blaine L. Furniss and Randy Hagar; parents, Melvin and Anna Vreeland Wood (Bill); sister, Jean (Keith) Corbridge; brothers, Sonny Vreeland and Jerry Vreeland. Maryann is survived by her sister, Vicki (Guy) Anderst; daughters, Linda Joy (Albert) Martinez, Debbie Sue (Dan) Merrill, and Mary Lou (Weldon) Russell; sons, Michael (Melanie) Furniss and David LaMar (Judy) Furniss; stepdaughter, Sabrina Hagar; stepson, Doug (Martha) Hagar; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was previously held Saturday, April 11, in Granny's Garden.

John Roy Hagar is the son on John Thomas Hagar and May Corbello and the grandson of John Arthur Hagar and Liddy Pherris. His wife, Deloris, is the daughter of Earl Bert Thompson and Grace Allison and the grandaughter of J. W. Thompson. Maternal grandparents William Perry Allison and Edna Marie Crackle.

John and Deloris were married December 1, 1946, at the residence of Earl Bert Thompson in Elwin, Illinois.

I have the family bible of Deloris Jean Thompson Hagar as well as a copy of her marriage license and many family pictures.

The dates are similar, as is the rumors of Cherokee, but my Claude died in Oklahoma in prison and is buried in McAlester cemetery. He was born in Arkansas also.

The Hagars came from England in the early 1600s, immigrated in Boston, and settled in New England. Another branch of them immigrated into Baltimore, and settled in St. Mary's Co, MD. They had all come from Essex, England, and were originally of Germanic origin, from the area of Saxony. Before that, they probably came from Austria up through Poland into Saxony. There are no Jewish roots that have been identified; only Roman Catholic at first and then Protestant, either Lutheran or Reformed.

The two Hagar families are described in the on-line data base of the Hager Family Historical Registry, URL address below. Look for Mary Bemis and William Hagar for the New England Hagars: William Hager Jr married Mary Sarah Bemis 20 March 1643 or 1645 in Watertown, MA. William was born in England and traveled to America with his father, William, a brother John, and a sister Elizabeth in Gov. Winthrop's fleet in 1630.

The St. Mary's Hagars trace back to Robert Hagar and Mary Courtney.

Robert is a common name in both Hagar families.

The relationship between the Hager and Hagar families traces back to the German roots. Many Hagars became Hagers. The family name Agar is from a different family entirely.

The Hagar families are described briefly in the book "The Hager Chronicles".

In my database I have an Andy O. Hagar born 11 July 1911 in Arkansas which could be your boyfriend's Andy Obrey Owen Hagar. I have Andy's father as Henry Winfield Hagar born 21 January 1891 in Warm Springs Arkansas and died December 1972. Andy's mother was Rachael N. unknown born about 1893 in Arkansas died unknown. I have Andy's 3 sisters (Ellen, Minnie, and Amanda). I do not know who Andy's wife is.

Henry, Rachael, Andy, Ellen, Minnie, and Amanda are in the 1920 U.S. Federal Census for Little Black Township in Randolph county Arkansas.

I see from your posting that Andy Owen Hagar was born 11 July 1911 so there is a strong possibility that this is the same person.

I have not published my database but you can look at James D. & Bridget A. Smith's database here on Ancestry.com as they have Andy O. Hagar with the parents that I listed above. I have found that this database is accurate and reliable given that Ms. Smith publishes her sources.

There is of course a strong possibility that I am related to your boyfriend. If your boyfriend is descendant from the linage listed above then our common ancestor is Elisha/Elijah Hagar/Hager born in North Carolina in April 1828 and died in Arkansas sometime between the 1900 and 1910 census. In July 1852 he married Elizabeth Weaver who was born about 1836 in Alabama.

When did the Hagars first come to Texas and from where? Also South Maid, TX and Collinsville, TX are two separate cities. I was born in Sherman, Grayson, Texas so I know. My mother is LueRilla Farnsworth McWain's Daughter. I have been trying to find out about the Farnsworths for ages. My mother was close to her cousin Maxine Starner who I believe was Sammy Hagar's aunt. Does any one know how Maxine is? Maxine is the daughter of William Anderson Hagar and Hattie Jane McFarland.

who is Robert Hagar a descendent of? My family branch of Hagars came to the USA around 1620 and were from England and I suspect are of Jewish lineage, but I am not certain as they mixed with many protestants in colonial america.

Allan Franklin George died 13 Jul 1971 in Ada, Pontotoc, Oklahoma. I was looking for SSDI for his son, Robert Franklin George, born 21 Mar 1921 in Pontotoc County Oklahoma. He worked for the railroad for a time so might be under the RR retiremant. All I could find is a Robert Franklin George with the wrong DOB in Lima Ohio. Nothing on the Living Persons search either. Would like to make contact with him if he is alive for DNA testing or find out if he had a son. Thank you for your reply.

Well most of my information agrees with yours. My main interest was the George connection. Lucinda married Eads Clements George after she was married William Hagar who was the brother of my greatgrandfather, Hiram Walker George. They had at least two sons, "Walker" and "Dick" George. The Hagars I talked to in Oklahoma thought that Eads Clements George was "Pop" George and had a son Alan Franklin George that was "Dick" George.I wanted to find out if Allan Franklin Georges son, Robert Franklin George, born in 1921 was still alive and available for DNA testing with Family Tree DNA. He would appatently be the last in that line and should match my DNA.My George Tree is on Ancestry.com.

Please help my boyfriend find out more about his father who passed when he was only 2! His father's name was Alvin Hagar but went by Dewayne. Alvin's parents were Andy Hagar and Gettia Whittaker (maiden name). I am stuck looking for information because they moved a lot! I believe Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas are all places where they had lived so I'm not sure where any family is located. Alvin was a Vietnam Vet and died in Rockford, Illinois in January 1981. He is buried in Reno, Arkansas and I believe still has 1 living sister named Wilma in Kennett Missouri? on 20 April 1939, do not know where. Andrew Hagar
married Maggie Shover, Huntsville Mo.Maggie was born
12 Sept 1870 and passed 11 July 1939. They were maried
1 Jan. 1890. This is all I have on the parents of Floyd
Hagar. I hope there is someone out there that may be
able to help me along with this. I have 2 sons and 1
daughter and 5 grand daughters and 1 lonely grand son
and 1 g granddaughter that are descended from this Hagar
line and I think they need to know at least the names of
the ancesters that helped get them here. ( Did that last

I'm Pat Campbell. I am trying to search my deceased
husbands family. Not having much luck on my tracing. I have
info on his immediate family, am trying to get as close to the
Hagar roots as possible. His g grandfather was Andrew Hagar
born on 22-April-1867, I think in Huntsville Mo. Andrew
married Maggie Shover, born 12-Sept-1870 Huntsville Mo.
Possibly both born in Huntsville Mo.They were married on
1-Jan-1890 in Huntsville Mo ??? Andrew died on20-April-1939,
and Maggie died on11-July-1939 in Huntsville Mo ??????
They had son Floyd Hagar, son Clarence Hagar and
daughter Lottie Hagar. Floyd Hagar was father of my ex-
husband. I am having no luck on finding Hagars in Mo or
Ok. Floyd Hagar was born in Moberly Mo on 17-March-1893.
He married Mary Elizabeth Hennigh on 2-Jan-1920 in
Silom Springs Ark. Mary Elizabeth Hennigh was born in
Sabatha Kansas on 9-Aug-1897. PLEASE if anyone out
