After a few months I forgot and stopped checking to see if any responses arrived to my old "photo query". Sorry.
Yes, I'm familiar with much of the story you've summarized, although there are naturally several different "versions".
Yesterday, I stumbled across a distant "cousin" of ours who lives in Stavanger, Norway; actually a descendant of one of Johan Hagbart's sisters. I'm hoping we are about to get active again in identifying the old photographs.
Would you like me to try to get in contact with you directly?

My grandfather was Johan Hagbart Hage from Norway. He was a sailor. The story goes that my grandfather and greatgrandfather owned a fleat of sailing ships. They feel into ruin with the arrival of the steamdriven ships. When my grandfather went broke he took a ship to New York (leaving his wife in Norway supposedly no kids?). Later he married my grandmather (Bertha) and had 7 sons. I don't know much else but my siblings would (I was born when my father, Perry Merritt Hage, was 45). Also, my dad's brother, Selmer Hage, married my mom's sister and had 11 children, 8 of which are still living - my "double cousins". Does any of this sould familar to you?

Hage family photos - Skudeneshavn

Some photos have been discovered of members of the Hage family from Skudeneshavn, Rogaland, Norway. Old, a bit tattered and stained they appear to be from the late 1800's and early 1900's. Few have any notation of who is in each photo and I'm hoping to encounter others here who may be able to compare other photos they might have in their possession and help us identify them.
One photo is labelled Hagbart Hage and I assume this to be a bearded Johan Hagbart Hage (1860 Norway - 1936 Minn) son of Salve Arbjionsen Hage.
About the same era is another photo - of similar facial structure (beard better trimmed) who is wearing a clerical ruff collar and the photo was taken in Oslo/Kristiania -- a brother? Perhaps Peder Mandius Hage d.y.? (1857 - ?)
And a family group photo of what may another brother, Jens Hage (1854 Norway - 1932 Minn)? with wife Johanna? and a very young blonde short haired child in a white dress - father and child seated on some sort of ornate bench-- this photo was taken in Sioux Rapids, Iowa and the background shows at least two painted trees.

If anyone has any way or any ideas to help identify these photos - your assistance in this project would be welcomed!
On the back of the photo is handwritten "Rev. John Hage, Return to H. H. Earle, Eagle, Waukesha Co." "March 13, 1902"

My Hage settled in Goldsboro, Wayne Co., NC in 1864. However, he started from NY, then moved to NJ, then joined the Union Army, traveled all over the East Coast, including Goldsboro, so I think he settled there only because the Civil War ended.

I'm looking for information about Hage in southwestern Pennsylvania, particularly Greene and Washington Counties. My 3grandmother, Sarah HAGE (or Sarah HAGIE)was born about 1803 in Pennsylvania. She married James BRADEN probably in Greene County and lived there until the late 1840's. (Most of the children were born there). The family then moved to Ritchie County, Virginia/West Virginia.

I'm trying to find any information or leads regarding her birth, parents, and siblings. At this point I have nothing but an approximate year of birth and one record that states she was born in Pennsylvania.

The Hans Hage I have was the son of Arnbjorn Pedersen Haga and Martha Jensdatter. He was married to Gjertrude Jacobsdatter in 1809. Have you ever seen the Slekstforum Karmoy website? That's a Norwegian website where they show the land books for the Island of Karmoy. There are alot of Hage's with roots there. We may still have a connection because there may have been another Hans in the next generation. I'll keep checking to see what I can find. Keep in touch.

Aloha,

I to am looking for information regarding a James Hages. Two different people but a lot of similarities. My grandfather was also Demetrios Hages from Neohori, Greece. He was born in 1921. His family came to America in 1920. I am looking for info on my great-grandfather, Louis Hages from Neohori. Our last name was Hageanastasious and was honored with the title "Hajis" as well. My great-grandmother's name was Cherry Korbety from Neohori as well. I also have other great-grandparents that came to America from Greece. Thomas Hassiotes (Hassett) and Anna Basbas Hassiotes from the regions of Larisa & Lamia, Greece. My family came in from Canada and entered the US from Detroit. Finally residing in the St. Louis, MO area. I was happy to read your message and was suprised with the similarities. I am working hard to find out more about the crusade someone in my family took to the holy lands all those many years ago and received that title "Hajis". What an honor we should both be proud of. My great-grandfather and grandfather have a 20 foot monument errected in their name in Neohori at the Church they built for the village. I am planning a trip to take my daughter to go see it next year.

Good luck.
