My great grandfather was C.T. Hagness. He and his wife Caroline owned a livery and hotel in Fordville ND and also alot of farmland I think, nearby. After the great depression, when he died, all the sons inherited property except my grandfather Torger, and I have often wonder why.
I would love to correspond with you re your records on the family. thanks.
nonasmomjoan@gmail.com

Hi,

The Juell family originated from Norway, supposedly before NOrway in the 1500's origins came from Denmark

If you have some info on how you are connected to the Juell family with dates and places, I will fill in details for you.

The Juell family in the Dakota's connects to my family by marriage - however I have done quite a bit of research on the Juell family for a distant cousin of mine.

You can e-mail me at kickbacked@gmail.com

Tim Johnson

I was missing Nellie as a child of Nels & Helena Juell. I did have Nels Henry (aka Henry, my gr. grandfather), William, and Marie as children. According to my info, I would argue that Mr. & Mrs. Albert Hagness were not Nellie's brother and sister inlaws as you stated. They were actually her brother's (Nels Henry) parents-in-law. I do believe that Nellie's brother and sister-in-law (Nels Henry and Carolina Hagness-Juell) lived on the Hagness farm for some time. Mrs. Albert Hagness was actually Gustava Williams. Hoping I haven't confused you...

Mons Torger "Mills" Hagness came to Buffalo County, Wisconsin, probably in 1864. He was from the Ekrene under Haganes farm in Luster, Norway. One of seven children, Mons' parents were Torger Torgerson and Ingebor Flahammer. After serving in the Civil War (Company E, 7th Wisconsin Infantry), about 1866 Mons married Susannah Halverson. They had thirteen children including Henry (born 1883/1884), who was born after Mons and Susannah came in 1878 to a farm near Merrifield, North Dakota. By 1885, the family had moved to Grand Forks where Mons had a saloon on Bruce Street.

I'm not sure that I know who Henry Hagness was, but I'm sure it must be a relation as it is very close to my area. My grandparents were from Fordville, ND and I do have relatives (hagness) in GF.

Albert's father, Christopher Torgerson "C.T." Hagness is the brother of my great-grandfather, Mons Torgerson "Mills" Hagness. They were both born at Ekrene under Hagness, Luster, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. C.T. immigrated to America in 1867. Mons had come earlier and served in the Civil War. I have much information on the ancestors of C.T. and Mons. I would be happy to share if you would send me your e-mail address.
Nona - I have my fingers crossed. I think we have a match. As I said, my grandfather is Mons Torger "Mills" Hagness. I believe that your Torger c Hagness is his brother. I don't have Olive or Oliver nor do I have Karen Maria Torgerson. I have a Torger born 1 Oct 1839, Lyster Prestegeld, Sogn, Norway; died 29 Dec 1923, Buffalo Co, Wisconsin; buried Thompson Valley, Church Cem. According to my notes, he came to America on 8 Apr 1867 on a sailing ship; in June he reached Quebec, Canada - he went to Stoughton by railroad, then to Alma by boat; he homesteaded in Modena; in 1882, he moved to Thompson Valley and purchased 460 acres. Does this seem to fit with your information? If so, I would love to exchange information.

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you - we went to Australia and New Zealand tied to the Olympics and just got back. I'm looking forward to hearing from you - Bob Allen, 22470 N.
