I am looking for any information on a James Haig born in the late 1700's who is believed to be the son of Earl Haig of Bemersyde around that time. According to the death certificate of Elizabeth Haig (1816-1911), her mother was Elizabeth Hope, who had evidently been a servant with Earl Haig of Bemersyde. Being illigitimate, there is probably no birth certificate for "Betty". Betty later married John Ingles in Selkirk in 1834.
