William W. HAIL/HALE Nancy W. BASS

I am searching for information on the parents and birthplace of William W. HAIL/HALE, who married 2nd Nancy W. BASS removed from NC to Montgomery Co, TN Marshall Co, MS. Nancy W. BASS was b Halifax Co, NC 1800. William W. HAIL, b NC 1789. He migrated with an Andrew W. HAIL, b 1781-1788, who was probably a brother. The families probably moved to MS in 1838 William W. HAIL/HALE died there in 1873. Known Issue: Susan D (m William JOHNSON), Maclin B (m Susan T), George (m Henrie SCRUGGS), James T (m Eliza LEONARD Virginia), John L (m Mattie), Rebecca (m John NESBETT). Known issue with 1st wife: Mary J (m William K HINTON).

Another Hale group resided in Bertie County, NC at least from 1700s. A number of them moved to Halifax County. The history of Halifax County lists two Hale brothers who were given land grants near present day Scotland Neck.

I would be interested to know if the William to which you refer may have been the one located in McMinn County Tennessee who filed a Revolutionary War Pension application in about 1832.

was my husband's great grandfather born in Tenn. 5-20-1844,
married to a Martha A Booth and came to Oklahoma and he
died 12-7-1909. Sallie Becknell was possible his mother.
George was Cherokee also and his listed on the Siler Rolls
of 1851. I would love to hear from anyone.

I've seen your posting over and over on this Reuben Hale. May I suggest that you contact a fellow researcher by the name of Donnie Hazel ? He can be reached at family@ancestry-quest.com or at www.ancestry-quest.com. Maybe Donnie can help you find some answers on your Reuben or at least allow you to be able to close the book on Rueben Hale for once and for all.

Reuben Hail 1802-1873

Reuben Hail was born 1802 in Tennessee. He appeared in the 1830 census of Smith Co, TN. A few years later he moved to Sparta, Christian CO., MO. Some of his descendants still live in this area. Reuben later moved (with some of his children) to California where he died in 1873. I have the names a some info on about 200 of his descendants. I would really like to find out who his parents were. Reuben Hail was born 1802 in Tennessee. He appeared in the 1930 census in Smith County, TN. In the same county were other families with the name Hale or Hail. Could someone please tell me if any of these other Hail-Hale families were living close to Reuben Hail? I do not know how to figure out whether anyone lived close to another family in that census. I am sure your ancestor is a cousin of the Virginia Hale /Hail family.Therewere two groups of Hail/Hale cousins that moved to Tenn,North Carolina and Kentucky in 1800 to 1830.I have a book that lists our family relatives in VA.and there were a lot of William Hale's in the list.My father was a William, my brother and his son on down are William.

Do you know if you have reltive in Marion Co., Tn.
I have my Hales back to 1800. My GGGrandfather William Hale was in Marion Co. Tn. in 1824. He received a land grant in 1824 Marion Co., Tn.
On the 1850 Marion Co., Tn. census William Hale was 50 years old. His wife Nancy no last name age was 48 yrs. old.
William and Nancy Hale's had 10 children by 1850. The children went to lot of other states.

I have information that takes my family back to Virginia in the 1600's. However, I'm going to start out with more recent information and begin in Pulaski County,Kentucky where my gr-gr-grandfather John M. Hail Married Charity Heath on October 24th, 1831.

John and Charity would have at least ten children : William, Isaac, Permelia, Stephen, Elizabeth, Minerva, Austin, James, George and John. My great-grandfather was their son George. George "Berry" Hail was born on February 29th, 1852.

George would marry Martha J. Payne in Rockcastle County,Kentucky in 1877. They would have two daughters, Myrta born in 1878 and Lula born in 1879. * I never found out whatever became of George's wife Martha or their daughter Lula. But I did find out where daughter Myrta would marry Samuel Black in Laurel County in 1900.

I also know that George got remarried. George would marry Lula Mae Rutledge in Laurel County,Kentucky in 1884. They would have four children : Harry born in 1885, Wade born in 1888, Twins - Lillie and Dennis in 1896. Dennis / Denny was my grandfather.

Some time after 1900, George and his family would move to Bell County,Kentucky . George "Berry" Hail would die in Bell County in 1917. * I don't know what became of George's second wife Lula. The last place I have her documented is on the 1920 Harlan County, Kentucky census.

Denny would marry Anna Mae Johnson in Claiborne County,Tennessee in 1921. However they would be / were living in Bell County,Kentucky when my Dad was born in 1923.

For whatever reasons, George's sons and his grandsons would take up the spelling of their name as H A L E. But I have George's signature on various documents and he and his father always spelled their name as H A I L - Not Hale. But anyway, that's why my name is spelled Hale today.

If you are in some way a descendant of John Hail and Charity Heath and have information to share, I would love to hear from you.

Reuben Hail was born 1802 in Tennessee. He appeared in the 1830 census of Smith County, TN. I do not know who his parents are. There are other Hail families listed in the same census of Smith Co, TN in 1830. I do not know if they are related to Reuben. Does anyone know if these other Hail people are living close to Reuben? I am of that line of Hail. My Grandfather was Thomas Allen Hail. There is a daughter left from him as my dad Thomas Lewie Hail is passed. My Aunt Rita Hail Hargis just moved to Minerva, Ohio next to her Daughter Ardean Dougan. There are a lot of Pictures and data threw her.

Reuben Hail--1802 to 1873

Reuben Hail was born in 1802 in Tennessee. He married Lucy Weaver in about 1820 or so. In 1825, Reuben recieved 2 land grants in Madison County, TN., according to the book, "Tennessee Land Grants". In 1830, Reuben appeared in the 1830 census of Smith County, TN. In 1836, Reuben recieved a land grant in Bedford County, TN. He moved to Sparta(Greene-Christian County, Missouri), MO. Reuben later moved to California where he died in 1873. He is buried in Plainsburg(Merced CO., CA) Cemetery. I am trkying to find out who his parents were. Are there any records in Tennessee that show who his parents are? Were there other Hail families living in Madison CO., TN or Bedford CO.,TN at the same time as Reuben was there? Reuben Hail was born 1802 in Tennessee. He married Lucy Weaver about 1821. Reuben appeared in the 1830 census of Smith County, TN. Lucy died. Reuben and family moved to Missouri in the 1830's. He married Martha (Weaver) Taylor (Lucy's sister) and settled down in Sparta,Christian County, Missouri. In 1849, Martha died. Reuben married Mary Ann Inman in 1852. Reuben Hail was born 1802 in Tennessee. He moved to Missouri in the 1830's.His first wife was Lucy Weaver. He moved to California in 1852. He died in 1873. I haave a chart of about 200 descendants of his if anyone is interested. I need to know who his parents are. Reuben is in the 1830 census of Smith CO MO. There are other people there named Hail. I have a William Hale, born in TN, but my Grandmother related she thought his family was just over here and may have been "soldiers". I know nothing more of this branch except for his children. Wife was supposed to be Martha Hawks and his mother was supposed to be an indian (Cherokee) I presume. Any chance of a connection? He lived in AL for a time and party of the family is still there near Huntsville.

Please contact me at haleyes@ipa.net I'm looking for information on Wiley F. Hail/Hale from the 1860 Lawrence County Census. He had two children listed that match some of my family's history. Joushua J. and Thomas B. Ages 13 and 12. When my GGrandfather Joushua was in his 30's he killed a younger brother named Tom, at that time they were living in Giles County Tenn. but the killing occured in Maury County some where near Florance Ala. I'm told. This incident occured in 1876.

Reuben Hail was born 1802 in Tennessee. In the 1830's, he moved to Missouri. In 1853, he moved to California. He died in 1873. What I need to know is who his parents were. Somewhere there must be some kind of Bible or document that tells who his parents were. Reuben was born 1802 in Tennessee. He later moved to Greene/Christian County, Missouri. In 1853, Reuben moved to California. He was a justice of the peace in Merced County, California. He lived in Mariposa for awhile. He died in 1873 and is buried in Plainsburg Cemetery. Does anyone know who his parents were? Do you know of any of his descendants who still live in that area? CHICO (Butte County)- Funeral services for Mrs. Effie Sellick, who died in a local hospital late Thursday night, were held this afternoon at 3:00. Rev. Adrian D. Berry, officiating. Interment was made in Chico Cemetery.
Mrs. Sellick was a resident of Nord, where she had lived practically all of her life. She was 55 years old. Her maiden name was Effie Hail and she was married to C.C. Sellick in 1887. Surviving are the widower, Charales C. Sellick, two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Sanborn of Chico, Miss Eleanor Sellick of Nord, two sons, J. Arthur Sellick of San Francisco and Charles Sellick Jr. of Nord; three brothers, F.C. Hail and C/W. Hail of Washington and Leonard Hail of Montana; two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Babcock of Los Angeles and Susie Vernon of Washingtom, and two grandchildren.

I'm interested in your Hail & Lumpkins line. I have been searching for two years for my line of Lumpkins and have come up pretty empty. What I have goes as follows:

IJames Lumpkins (1860-1934) m. Margaret Pierce in 1880 Campbell Co. TN

His father, Joseph Lumpkins (1830-3/21/1863, died at Rogersville prison) m. Phoebe McCarty.

This is all the info I have. I don't have siblings, etc.
