HAIRE - Ray born Fairfield VT 1891

I have found a birth record noted in www.familysearch.org that lists RAY HAIRE born 14 APR 1891 in Fairfield, Franklin County, Vermont - son of GEORGE HAIRE and "FRANKIE." This would be a brother of Harland Bernard Haire, who is the son of FRANCELIA (nee KELLEY) Haire.

In his Enosburg marriage license to Zelma Page, Harland listed his father as GEORGE WASHINGTON HAIRE.

Any information on this Ray Haire and his father "George Washington Haire" would be helpful. It does not seem likely that this would be the son of the only G.W. Haire that we found in Franklin County, as his sons were about the same age as Francelia. This G.W. Haire died in 1898 and is buried in Edson Cemetery, Lowell, Mass - listed as widowed (wife Ann Booth died before 1880).

Ray disappeared from the census records by 1920, so he is only listed in 1900 and 1910. There is no death record for him in Enosburg, so I have no idea what became of him. Leonard and Harley never mentioned a brother Ray Haire as far as we know.

Joyce - genealogyjoy@gmail.com

I am looking for information on Jessee Hair who married Dicy Lockerman in Cumberland County, NC in 1836. I found this info in the North Carolina Marriage Collection, 1741-2004 database.
Is this the Jesse and Dicey Hair who migrated to Georgia around 1840. This Dicey has been assumed to be a Wilson due to an elderly Wilson in Jesse's household in the 1850 Baker County, Georgia census and his daughter Hester Hair Kinney's household in the 1870 Decatur County, Georgia census.
Any help would be greatly appreciated since I have hit a dead end on Jesse since tracing him back to the 1840 Houston County, Georgia census

Garrett who was a widow. Her married name was Hair and she had a son John Hair. They married in San Joaquin Cty, Calif, around 1878. Other than seeing his name in the 1880 census, I have lost him. He was the half-brother of my grandfather, Herman Levi Weitz.

I have an Isaac Hair who performed a wedding ceremony in 1811 in Greene Co., Tn. between the Lewis and Bottle/Bortle family.
I have a Knox. newspaper that listed
Isaac Hair died at the age of 65, he was a mininster of the Methodist faith. He died July 19, 1824.
His wife was Elizabeth? He lived in Blount Co, Tn. and his will is on file in Blount County library.
I have his children and who they married, they are my family.

Also, I believe that Isaac had a brother named Jacob and Jacob married Lydia Squibb and beleive they settled in Washington or Sullivan Co., Tn. They had a son named Henry and he married Elizabeth Taylor. I believe this line is still in the area.
You may try to find a John G. Ruble on a board of a church in either Sullivan, Washington, or Greene Co., Tn. It seems it was Asbury, but I can not verify that at this point. It was said they built a log structure. I believe that Isaac's daughter Rachel Ruble was buried there.
I have had the same problem tracing the Haire line back past John Laurence Haire He was my great great grandfather and James Henry Haire was my great grandfather and he went by the nick name of Pete and you are right they are buried in Miller county and Baker county. John and Eliza are buried in Belleview cemetery the dates are washed off of the stones and My great grandfather James Henry Hair and Mary Jane Cook are buried at Baker County line cemetery but his name says Pete. The nick names they had have really thrown me. Pete wasn't even in his name but My Grandmothers first husband was also James Henry Haywood and so he went by Pete. Crazy huh? I live in Washington State but go to a Haire reunion the 1st Saturday of April in Colquitt every year and I have be doing alot of research on my family. If you would like to get in touch with me my email is DJEric@comcast.net My name is Eric Alan Eide-Haire I would be glad to share what I have and hopefully you have things that I don't.
I am looking for information about my great-grandfather William John Haire's ancestors and any siblings he may have had. He was born 8 August 1854 in Enniskillen Fermanagh, Ireland. His parents were Thomas Haire and Jane Ann Noble.

In about 1883, he immigrated to the Boston, Massachussets area and perhaps lived in the Maynard/Ayer area.

By 1896, William had moved to Montreal, Quebec where he helped open the Goodyear Shoe Machinery Company.

He had at least one brother who had a daughter Grace, who probably did not marry. She lived in Toronto, Ontario in the 1960s and would have been born about 1900.

It is possible that Haire relatives were still living in Boston or Salem in the 1930s.

John Laurence Haire was my ggggrandfather. He was born in 1809, but I don't have a place. Where did you find the place of birth? He married Eliza A. McGill (dob 1819). Their son, Wade Washington Haire, 1848-1887, married Malissa Phillips from Decatur Co. GA. Her family was from Rowan Co, NC a couple of gens back. Their son, Jessie, was my great-randfather and I believe that most of them are buried in Miller Co, GA. I've been stumped in tracing the Haire line further back than John L., but got the Phillips line all the way back to Wales in the 1700s. Hopefully, I will have the same luck with the Haire line soon. Any help will be appreciated.

RAY and HARLAND BERNARD HAIRE of Franklin County, VT

I am seeking information on Ray Haire, who was born April 1890 and appears to have died between 1910 and 1920. He is missing from the 1920 census. He lived in 1897-1910 or later in Bakersfield and Enosburg Falls, Franklin County, VT.

Parents of Ray are Francelia Kelley and supposedly George Washington Haire. (Francelia remarried about 1897 to Mr. Samuel E. Green, location of marriage unknown.)

Ray is the brother of Harland Bernard Haire. Both boys may have been born in Canada, though Harley usually listed his birth as Troy, VT. In the census records, while living with their mother, their birthplace is listed as Canada. In later records, Harley lists his father as Canadian with native language French. In one census, Harley lists himself born in Canada and immigrated in 1890.

Their father is listed on Harley's marriage license as George Washington Haire, and Harley's birthplace is listed as North Troy, VT. His WWI draft registration notes his birth in Troy, VT.

Because of the inconsistency in Harland's data, we do not know where the boys were born, if in fact their father was a George Washington Haire (which does not jibe with any data so far), where their parents married, or where the mother was later married to Mr. Green.

Does anyone have information on these boys? Or on their parents? So far, we have found no one with any information on Ray or on their father.

I have tried for years and I always give up but this time I dont want to. We tried to find my girlfriends dad and he passed away in the process so she never met him and I dont want that to happen. I am looking for a Brendan Neville Haire whos is the son of Joseph Haire. He was once married to Olga Maria Teves back in the 80s and they had two sons Grant and Jeffery Haire. His last known location that i could find was in woodstock ontario back in 1993 but may have been there for several years after. I caught wind that he may have moved to london ontario but ive hit a stump and cant find anything. If anyone has any idea of how to help me that would be great. I have contacted most family members from his side of the family who are all scattered across ontario or newfoundland but the last person to speak with him was his father back in 1993 who is now residing in newfoundland aswell.

We had similar matches in both areas. I can trace our family back to 1830 in Macon County, North Carolina, but no further. My most distant documented ancestor is Thomas Hare there. Do you have any information linking to this family? Mary Haire

I am told by my father (or was told by my father) Malcolm Alfred Haire B.21 apr 1934 D.10 july 2007,that the Haire name is of Irish/scotish and welch origin. It was spelt many ways , I have these spellings,Haire,Hair,O'Hair, O'Hare, and hare. I have not yet come across the HARE spelling in my family history yet.
I would appreciate any and all info anyone out there has on the Haire name and family members.
I have found a 3rd cousin so far, who is a wealth of knowledge, and is always willing to trade information as am I.
Paul,

My name is Jim Norris. I live in Texas. I am the great-grandson of James Edward Norris and Eldorado Hair. I would love to know anything else you might have about this line of my family. I would be glad to pay for a copy of the picture of Lewis K. and Millie Ann Hair. I knew their names but not much else about them.

I have tried without suucces to find the last name of Millie Ann. I am afraid that will be hard to find.

If you have anyt additional information and you will be willing to share the picture, please contact me at jim@jnorris.com.

Thanks,
Jim
