Yes, the Hoyts were MA->CT->NY->everywhere. Jackie, you need to do much more work on your own and probably go to the Hoyt board. You need to be aware that the sir name can be spelled many ways and not get too caught up on the spellings. Remember they were in Stamford by the 1630s. They were not as prolific as some sir names but with 20+ generations there are a lot. Too many to get any kind of concideration un less you can go back a century or so. However, it does not hurt to try.

When we first found the Last Will of Jonathan Fish from 1845, Eliza's name was incorrectly read as Eliza Hait. We have since verified her married name as Hoit or Hoyt.

So, the subject of this Query should be: Eliza Fish Hoyt in Indiana.

Elizabeth Hait m. Richard Williams

According to a copy of a Bible record, Elizabeth Hait married a Richard Williams. They had three children born in Maryland: Thomas Stocket Williams born Aug. 19, 1812; Sarah Ann Williams born Oct. 25, 1814; and Richard D. Williams born Dec. 24, 1817. They were probably born in Baltimore; possibly Anne Arundel County. Richard died on May 25, 1835 (place unknown) and Elizabeth died March 19, 1835 (place unknown). Their sons Thomas and Richard migrated to Muskingum County, Ohio where they married. They lated removed to Wapello County, Iowa. Interested in finding out more information about Richard Williams and his wife Elizabeth Hait (Hate.) Is Richard a descendant of Richard Williams and Elizabeth Stockett??

Hait name

Lane, my gr-grandfather Carlos Emery Hait was born in Clyde, Wayne Cty, NY, 16 Oct 1828. Carlos parents died and he was raised by his aunt Mabel (Strong) Griffing. Carlos had a brother, William, born in 1824 and a younger sister, Hepsey Ann, born on 12 Jan 1831 both born in New York. Do you know anything about your grandfather's parents? They might be cousins of my gr-grandfather.
What town and county was your grandfather born? Have you looked in the 1880 or 1900 census to find his parents and siblings?

Carlos Emery Hait ancestors

Carlos was b1828, sister Hepsey Ann b1831 and brother William b1826. Carlos was raised by his aunt Mabel Strong Griffing b1799, d1893 in New York state and Michigan. Hepsey and William were raised by other relatives in Colorado and Iowa. I understand that Mabel was from CT, but we don't know anything about the parents of Carlos, Hepsey and William. I have a lot of information regarding the descendants of Carlos, but no information regarding the ancestors. My mother said that my grandfather told her that his ancestors were Russian Jews, but we haven't been able to verify it. If anyone has information regarding this family, please let me know.
