Yes, the Hoyts were MA->CT->NY->everywhere. Jackie, you need to do much more work on your own and probably go to the Hoyt board. You need to be aware that the sir name can be spelled many ways and not get too caught up on the spellings. Remember they were in Stamford by the 1630s. They were not as prolific as some sir names but with 20+ generations there are a lot. Too many to get any kind of concideration un less you can go back a century or so. However, it does not hurt to try.

Look for many variations of surnames; allow for phonetic spelling and carelessness, and one must sometimes look on several pages before discovering a disired name. Not only did public records vary the orthography, but a man sometimes spelled his own name in two or more ways.

Simeon, Scituate, adm. chh. with wife April 19, 1638. His brother, the smith, had a house there in 1636. [Lo. in Reg. IX.] See TILDEN.

Looking for maiden name of Elizabeth who married Samuel R. Hait July 27, 1806. Samuel Hait died on 22 Sept 1809. Did Elizabeth Hait then marry Richard Williams on 7 Sept 1811? Bible-like records show that Elizabeth Hait died 19 Mar 1835 and that Richard Williams died on 25 May 1835.

Can you give me more names. I know names are often changed or spelled differently so I'm looking for all possibilites for Sol Hyatt who was married to Annie Nealand. I know there were differences in spellings with both of these people. Do you have anything that looks/sounds like these?

Hyatt, Hiatt and other spellings

Looking for any information on above. I can't seem to get past my ggf whose name was Sol Hyatt. He settled in Saline County, NE. I'm sure by now, that spellings are not the same and I may have found some connection in Iowa. He married Annie Nealand but I can't find anything on her either.

Any information would be greatly appreciated and I am willing to share what I have.

Eliza Fish (1813-1894) was born in Cumberland Co., New Jersey, daughter of Jonathan Fish (1770-1846) and Elizabeth Graham. Eliza Fish married B.C. Hoyt (1812-1878) in Franklin Co., Indiana in 1833.
We have not found the family name Hait in our research.

When we first found the Last Will of Jonathan Fish from 1845, Eliza's name was incorrectly read as Eliza Hait. We have since verified her married name as Hoit or Hoyt.

So, the subject of this Query should be: Eliza Fish Hoyt in Indiana.

Are my relatives related? George Hate (Hait) bd Apr.24.1821. m. Elizabeth Ohl bd June 2. 1821. 6 children Their son, John b.Jan.16.1846. (my g g grandfather) Possibly Ohio, I know that a lot of them settled around Elkhart Indiana. Dowagiac/Silver creek/ Cass County, Michigan. Please let me know.

Perhaps my ggggrandfather is related to yours. George Hate(Haite,Hait) spelling, who knows. Born April 24.1821. Not sure where. Possibly Ohio. He married Elizabeth Ohl. who was b.June 2.1821. As far as I know they had 6 children. 3 died in infancy. The son, John Hate was my g g grandfather. Let me know if this helps.Seems that most of the Haits settled around Elkhart, Indiana . Also Cass county, Silver Creek area. Dowagiac county. Michigan

Elizabeth Hait m. Richard Williams

According to a copy of a Bible record, Elizabeth Hait married a Richard Williams. They had three children born in Maryland: Thomas Stocket Williams born Aug. 19, 1812; Sarah Ann Williams born Oct. 25, 1814; and Richard D. Williams born Dec. 24, 1817. They were probably born in Baltimore; possibly Anne Arundel County. Richard died on May 25, 1835 (place unknown) and Elizabeth died March 19, 1835 (place unknown). Their sons Thomas and Richard migrated to Muskingum County, Ohio where they married. They lated removed to Wapello County, Iowa. Interested in finding out more information about Richard Williams and his wife Elizabeth Hait (Hate.) Is Richard a descendant of Richard Williams and Elizabeth Stockett??

I am sorry that I don't have any info on the Hait name. I was researching my family name, which is Johntry. My father is Howard Pierpont JOhntry of Florida, His father with the same name came from new york. Any info on this name would be appreciated.

Eliza Fish Hait (abt.1800-aft 1845) is mentioned in her father's Last Will of 1845 in Jay County, Indiana. He was born in NJ, Jonathan Fish (1770-1846), had three sons Samuel, George, Nathaniel Fish, and a daughter named Eliza. All born in New Jersey. Any connections?
