      <title>Obit: Fabian Halder of Iowa (1926-2009)</title>

      <description>Fabian Michael Halder, son of Fred Edward and Annie V. (Flaherty) Halder, was born June 18, 1926 in Pocahontas, Iowa. He attended school in Pocahontas before his family moved to Ruthven. Fabian graduated from Ruthven High School in 1945. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Following high school, Fabian served in the United States Army during World War II. He was then called back to service during the Korean War. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;On September 22, 1955, Fabian was united in marriage to Margaret J. Haar in Ruthven, Iowa. To this union four children were born. Fabian farmed near Ruthven for many years. He had dairy livestock as well as grain farming. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Fabian was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Ruthven American Legion. He served as Calvary Cemetery’s sexton for over twenty years, just recently resigning from that position. Fabian was also a past member of the Ruthven Fire Agency. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Fabian enjoyed playing cards and meeting with his coffee group each day. He loved music and especially liked going to dances or events to listen to music. Fabian also enjoyed photography. He will be remembered at Lakeland for always coming in at the end of the day to drink their last cup of coffee. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Fabian died Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Palo Alto County Hospital at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant siblings; and his wife, Margaret in 2001. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He is survived by his children, Don and Becky Halder of Ruthven, IA, Gary and Diana Halder of Spirit Lake, IA, Craig and Teresa Halder of Olathe, KS and Kent and Cindy Halder of Jesup, IA; a dear friend, Arvilla Sassman of Dickens, IA; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren, Lucas Seaton Halder Thrasher, Hailey and Hudson Ortner; two brothers, Jerome Halder of Iowa Falls, IA and Tom “Clare” Halder and his wife, Mary of Webster City, IA; a sister, Mary Ann Truog of Emmetsburg, IA; as well as many other relatives and friends. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Service:&lt;br&gt;Wednesday, September 30, 2009&lt;br&gt;10:30 AM&lt;br&gt;Sacred Heart Catholic Church&lt;br&gt;Ruthven, IA &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;INTERMENT &lt;br&gt;Calvary Cemetery &lt;br&gt;Ruthven, Iowa &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;br&gt;         Catherine Halder&lt;br&gt; Catherine Cooney Halder, age 98, of Erie, died Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at her residence. She was born in Erie on January 31,1911 a daughter of the late John R. and Kathryn Considine Cooney. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Halder who died in 2002, a sister, Agnes Smith and two brothers, Robert and Jack Cooney. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Kathleen Nies and her husband Gerald of Prosperity, Pa. Eight grandchildren, Capt. Gerald Nies, Mary Nies, Lisa Serrao, Kate Nies, Susan Zoeller, Amy Nies, Ellen Blume and Bill Nies. Twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call at the Francis V. Kloecker Funeral Home, Inc. 2502 Sassafras St. Erie, PA. 16502, on Sunday from 5-7 PM and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Monday at 9:45 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at St. George Church at 10:30 AM.
