I have done much research on all this. It looks like there was a Moravian connection. Write back. I seem to be descended from the Mathias line, but have been researching this whole thing. I've found that possibly DeWalta may have married a Wyandot lady named Elizabeth as well. We are sure that Jacob the son of DeWalt jr. did, and her name was Elizabeth, and that Jacob's son Abraham married a Wyandot lady named Hill.
There is much more to say. Moravian Missionaries kept their surnames but those who converted from Native peoples were given a Bible name as were children who were the offspring of the missionaries and the Natives. No surnames and surnames were later added to keep track of geneologies. DeWalta himnself does not seem initially to be Moravian, but Jacob does and Abraham maybe initially. The diaries from the times by missionaries only note first names that are Bible names for Native descent converts.
