Hi, I'm throwing this lot in the pile in the hope somebody has a connection.
Thomas Halfpenny b 1801 was convicted and transported to Tasmania, Australia in 1841. His wife Mary b 1811 was also convicted of a separate crime and also sent to Tasmania in 1842 along with 5 of their 6 daughters.
According to Tasmanian records Thomas had 1 brother, but his name was not stated. The daughters who accompanied their mother were Joannah, Ellen (b 1833), Margaret, Mary and Catherine. All the girls were put into Queens Orphanage on their arrival.
A link possibility I am trying to find more information on is the Tithe Applotment Records for Monkstown, Inishlounaght, Tipperary showing a Thomas and William Halfpenny having adjoining plots in 1826 - slim, but worth looking into.
Cheers, Sharon
