What is it about this family that you wouldn't not post more information on this family?? I mean to understand better what your looking for from fellow researchers.Instead of doing that give out the years your looking even giving this out would help a great deal.Since I wouldn't not want to even try your e-mail address I have done that more then anything it kicks back at you that it can't be sent you.

Hi Ginny,

Not sure you are still on ancestry. Sarah Kilpeck is a great great aunt of mine. I do not have any direct information on Sarah or Lucien. But via census's, it looks like Lucien's parents are Watson Hallalay 1825 and Ann 1826. Possibly born in Henderson, Jefferson Count, New York. He was there until moving to Buffalo. I do have additional information on the Kilpeck family.

After posting this, I found a picture of Lorenda Halladay's headstone on www.findagrave.com. She was born on 23 Sep 1808 and died on 22 Aug 1899. Up until her death, she lived with her son, Edward L., who died 3 Jan 1916 in Hewins, Kansas. I have been in correspondence with the Chautauqua Co. Genealogical Society and they have sent me some great information. I wrote for his death certificate from the State of Kansas hoping that it would show Lorenda's maiden name but it didn't give it. It did say that Edward was buried in Cedar Vale so I assume that he would have been buried in the same cemetery as Lorenda. How sad that a tornado destroyed her tombstone!

Lucy Halladay, md to Simeon Jessup was, according to my records, the oldest of eleven children born to Azariah Halladay Jr. and Polly Johnson. I've been to the cemeteries in LaPorte County and have been unable to find a grave for her. I was told by a local librarian that the most likely cemetery is the Pinhook Cemetery. I found her brother Philo buried there but no sign of Lucy. There are a few Jessups buried there and in the Westville Cemetery but no Lucy.

Does anyone have any information on Wells Halladay, born in New York abt 1804 or 1805 and his wife, Lorenda E., born 23 Sept 1808 in New York and died 22 Aug 1899 in Kansas?

They moved to Earl Twp., LaSalle Co. in 1836. About 1853 they moved to California, and from there they went to Oregon. Later they moved to Polk County, Iowa, where Mr. Halladay may have died in abt 1863. Lorenda lived with her son, Edward L. in Nebraska and Kansas prior to her death. Wells & Lorenda had at least other two children: George H. Halladay and Sarah A. (Hallaway) Cook.

I'm trying to find out Lorenda's maiden name as well as the names of their parents. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you!

I'm looking for Bela Halladay, b. 1797 in Mass. (census record), d. ~1874, place unknown but perhaps Allegany County, New York. Married Lucinda Baker, who was listed as b. Vermont in one census and b. Connecticut in another. The 1850 and 1860 federal censuses in Andover, Allegany, NY and a brief mention in the Allegany County history as one of the first settlers in Allegany County are all I've found on them. All the Ancestry references have Lucinda descending from the Francis Baker line on Cape Cod, but I find no evidence for that. Does anyone have marriage info on them, or anything else? Thanks.

Anne Tanner

Hello Shelene:

This extended HALLADAY tree has been certainly a challenge. There was so much name duplication & travel back & forth from Canada to the U.S. Ken Halladay's repository of records in the Elgin, Ontario library is a great resource.

As you know, I have been trying to fill in the blanks on my Ancestry.com COON - HALLADAY tree & think that your Alvin is not the Alvin Miller Halladay s/o Alvin Taylor Halladay & Lucy Stevens. This Alvin was married 1st to Nancy Brown & after her death in 1872, he married a Sarah S. Brown in 1873. Both marriages were in Leed's Co., Ont.,but they were not sisters. I do not see a record of his marriage to Mary
Primrose Struthers.

Re census records, dates etc., I think that you are a descendant -- of Noah Halladay & Mehitabe Cross --James Halladay & Cynthia Sly -- Alvin Halladay & Rebecca Lewis -- Alvin M Halladay & Clarinda Pratt -- Eugene M Halladay -- Elmer Halladay & Almyra Streeter.

Hope this is of some help. I will reply to your Ancestry message.

Libby
North York, Ont., Canada
Alvin Miller Halladay dob 1830

Hello to all researchers of the Halladay Family,

I am hoping one of you can help me. I am looking for info on Alvin Miller Halladay (son of Alvin Taylor Halladay) from Bastard Twp. Ontario Canada, dob 1829 – 1835. (My line goes from Alvin miller to Alvin M. to Eugene to Elmer E. to Charles to me.)

My records indicate and have been verified by various records rec’d on line that he was married 5 times.

The first recording I have is to Nancy C. in 1861 Ontario census. They were living with Alvin Taylor's family and a son Luthera age 1. In 1861 he would have been 30 years old and I think should have had more children. I am assuming the marriage may have been somewhere between 1848 and 1859. But in 1859 I have he married Mary, but no verification. Nancy does have a death record in 1872 which states she was married to Alvin.

The second, which I have no verification is to Mary Primrose Struthers marriage date 1859. Mary was with Alvin and the children in 1870 but Mary was living with two sons and one daughter in 1880 in Michigan. No Alvin and it stated she had had 7 pregnancies and 3 living children. I have more than seven listed and some with births earlier than the 1859 date of their marriage. So this leads me to believe he was married to Nancy before the 1859 date and Mary and him had the children.

The third is to Sarah Brown about 1873. I have no verification on this marriage either. Sarah was living with brother in 1901 in Ontario, still saying she was married.

The fourth to Urania Tanner in 1890 in Michigan. His age was 60, states occupation as physician. Son of Alvin Taylor.

The fifth to Hannah Sealey Champman in 1899 in Michigan. States his age was 69 and he was son of Alvin Taylor.

I have two questions:

1. Was Nancy C. and Mary one and the same person? Nancy died in 1872 and it would make sense that he married Sarah in 1873 to take care of the children. But if Nancy and Mary are not the same person, where did Nancy go and when did Alvin and Mary get married and why did they have the children?

2. Does anyone know where he is buried, or where or when he may have died? He was with Hannah in 1900 Michigan census.

So if anyone has any info or can steer me in a direction, please do so. Thank you.

Shelene Halladay

Do you have Vincent and Thurza's marriage certificate, as this will give his father's name/occupation? This should help you to find him on the 1901 and/or 1911 censuses.

Penny

William and Patience are my 3rd great grandparents. I am related to them through their son Jasper Ball. Jasper (1871) married Mary Haycock. They had a son Warren Monroe Ball (1897). Warren married Ila F. Durand (1901). They had a son Alton B Ball (1923). Alton married Mary Rena Jones (1924). They had a son Roger Boyd Ball - my father (1952). I have only a few more specifics - siblings and children of these families if anyone wants/needs more information or has more information for me. sammedj13@gmail.com

I do not think this James is the same as the Big Jim you discussed in last update. James Halladay in Battle Creek was married to MaryAnn Fiero, she died of paralysis and a few months later he died too of thyfoid fever in Battle Creek, Mi.on April 5, 1875 was born Nov 29, 1804 in Geneva NY. There were many Halladays in Battle Creek in those days.
bboyerfowler

Hello,

I have a Calvin Halladay in my family. He was the son of James Halladay and Rebecca Copely. They had 8 children, and Calvin was the youngest. I don't have a birthdate for him, but his siblings were born from 1761 through 1771, and the last 2 children were born after that. His father (James) was born in Simsbury Township, Hartford, CT., on Sept. 28, 1733.

I have info on this line that goes back to England in 1620. If you think these are the same people, let me know and I can send you what I know in Family Tree Maker format.

Good Luck,
Joe Worz

I was told by my mother we were descended from the Narragansett Indians but I have never been able to find any proof of this. Possibly it was before Bela Halladay, which is where I hit a dead end. Or maybe on one of the other lines.
