I'm glad to be some help. I was struck by the same idea -- the gravestone says "Mother," so it only makes sense that there would be some strong family connections to the area. I looked around the obit and cemetery databases that I have access to and didn't find anything for him. At first I thought he might be with my group of Illinois Hallams in the Chatsworth Cemetery, but I didn't find him there in my pictures or notes. I'll keep my eyes open for any further info on him.

Terri

Hi "T" Hallam. You are great! I really, REALLY appreciate the photo of her gravestone. I knew she was buried in Congressional Cem. and have copy of her death cert. plus info sent to me by Congressional Cem. with listings of Hallams buried there and info on purchas of the grave lot. They do not have Oliver Perry listed there, which seems strange if he died in D.C. not to be buried next to his wife. I have census pages from 1880 in Okawville, Washington Co., Ill.; 1900 in Coldwater, Branch Co, MI.;1910 in Washington D.C.

Yes, please let me know if you find anything else, and if you would like anything that I might have. God bless.

Since she died in 1914, it is possible that he stayed in D.C. after her death and visited with his children in the Jonesboro AR area on occasion. The person who told me he died in AR was supposed to be one of his gr-gr-grandchildren, but when I asked where she obtained info, she couldn't find her source and didn't have anything other than the year. Two individual checks of the AR Death Index provided no info.

I am trying to work on his descendents' info in hopes of coming current and unearthing more info through one of them.

It looks like Oliver P. Hallam was busy in Washington DC. There was a program put together to commemorate the 42nd anniversary of Lincoln's Death in Washington DC with William Jennings Bryan as the speaker. Oliver P. Hallam was the committee treasurer. Here is the link to the program and his name is mentioned several times. http://www.archive.org/stream/masterfultribute00brya/masterf...

Perhaps you can look for him in the Washington DC area.

I am seeking info on Oliver Perry Hallam who was married to Dency Medora Bridges. They had children Amy Violet, Eudora Venturia, and Paul Lorenzo. I was given info before that he died in Jonesboro, Arkansas in 1922, and buried in Sandoval, Ill. But he is not listed on the Death Index for Arkansas, and I have been in contact with the City of Sandoval, Ill with no success. It is their Parks Dept. who manages the 3 cemeteries there. They were nice enough to check all their burian records for me. They say he isn't there. Please, can anyone give me additional info so that I might be able to document the final resting place for this allusive gentleman? Please, please contact me. Thank you.

Mary Hallam Bell was my great great grandmother. I have been doing some research into the Bell family, and also have hit a wall when it comes to tracking her. You mentioned in your message that she had two daughters. She also had 3 sons: John Thomas, Willis, and Wallace. My great grandfather was John Thomas, better known as Tom Bell.

I thought that I had connected John and Mary Hallam as brother and sister, but now doubt that is the case. There is mention of John Hallam in my great uncle's obituary. I also have the obituary for Myra Hallam Wyant, which mentions that her father also had a nephew, John Hallam, who lived in Tabor as well.

I would be very interested in communicating with you and exchanging any further information you and I have about the family. If you are interested, please contact me at huskerglenn@gmail.com.

William J Hallam was a half brother to my grandfather, Alvia Oscar Hallam. William's mother was Mary Ann Tait and my grandfather's mother was Elizabeth Wilson. Alva Oscar was not his birth name...I believe it was Allen Oscar...found that on the 1900 census form. He changed his name to Alvia about the time he went into the ministry.

I have a letter written by their father after Mary Ann Tait died in April 1872. Old William didn't waste any time courting someone new. This letter was written to Ann in Sep 1872. I do not know Ann's last name but evidently she did marry William and they had a child named Herbert, born Apr 1879. Then in 1882 he married Elizabeth Wilson. The letter is several pages and in sad shape but the manner of his writing is of the old school. The old man really knew how to charm a young lady.

yes, I would like a copy of the death certificate for William Hallam. Let me know if you would like a copy of the letter.

Barbara J Harper

I am trying to locate a death date and location on Oliver Perry Hallam, who reportedly died in Arkansas in 1922. But I am unable to find him listed on Arkansas Death Index nor an obit. A couple of years ago, someone names Patricia McGill-Spain wrote and said she had info, but I have lost contact with her. Please, if anyone can help on the info for O. P. Hallam, or for Patricia McGill-Spain, please contact me. thank you

Hi Sheila

I think there is a strong likliehood that my Hallam family is related to yours. I have a John Hallam baptized in Manchester 5 July 1801 son to John Hallam and Mary Wedioe. They also had three other children Edward, George and Mary Ann and I am descended from this George. I find it striking that the forenames names you give are almost all common in every generation in George's descendants up to the present day. These are John, Mary, Samuel, Jane, Thomas and Henry My first name is Henry after my father, great uncle etc. I named my son Samuel after my grandfather Samuel Hallam who was born 14 March 1859 in Manchester to a John Hallam, son of George.. My cousin who lives here in British Columbia as well is named John Thomas Hallam after a long line of John Hallams and Thomas Hallams

I would like to send you three charts in pdf formst which provide details on the family of John Hallam and Mary Wedioe and their descendants but you have not provided your email address. You should be able to find my email addre4ss in my profile and if you email me I will email you back the charts with details on several hundred individuals. I tried to send them as attachments here but Ancestry.com blocks pdf files and I find gedcom files too akward in identifying links and relationships.

In one of your postings you mention Northwich in Cheshire. By coincidence I was visiting friends there at the end of September.

Aefauldlie

Robin Hallam
Duncan British Columbia.

Sheila,
I am researching my past relatives who have the Hallam family included. Most of them seemed to come from Derbyshire to Stockport and I have still a lot of work to do. I am waiting for the next census before I can carry on. If you wish to look at my site, please feel free. I have not gone as early as yourself so I do not know if any of them are related, thank you.

Hallam Family - Manchester

I am researching the Hallam family from the Manchester area. The earliest member I have is John Hallam born 1801, married Sally or maybe Sarah, unsure as to when. They had 6 children John b 1829, William 1824, Mary 1827, Martha 1836, Samuel 1836, and Jane 1845. The one I am most interested in is John who had 9 children one of whom is my Great Grandfather Thomas Henry Hallam, born 1862 in Manchester. If there is anyone who can help with my research I would be most grateful

Hallams in Burton & Winshill

I am interested in hearing about Hallams in Burton & Winshill. I have a 4 x G Grandfather John Turner Hallam (1780-1823) who was a farmer in Winshill and mariied a Harriot Payne. I believe his father was Thomas Hallam (1749-1819) also a farmer in Winshill who was christened in Burton. He married Sarah Turner. I also believe Thomas's father was John Hallam born about 1720 in Winshill. J T's son Charles (1806-1877) went to build a successful tea and grocery business in Birmingham and his great grandson Frederick (1851-1904 born in London) took the firm over and built it further, becoming a councillor and alderman of the city of Birmingham.
