You probably know this but I'll send it anyway.
Sir Walter Halliday was probably of the Minchinhampton family who were wealthy wool millers. Sir Leonard Halliday of this family was Lord Mayor of London, 1605. There is a medieval Brass plate to Edward Halliday (d.1519) in Holy Trinity Church in Minchinhampton.
I have been unable to connect with my Halliday ancestors in Painswick which is quite nearby.
Never heard of Master of the Revels. Could it be Master of the Rolls which is a state legal position which still exists.

Good luck with your search!

My mother's maiden name is Halliday. She grew up in Calais Maine. Her fathers name was Ernest Halliday. Before he past away - he lived in Portland, ME with his wife Margarite. I am not sure if she is still living or not. My mother has been told that there are quite a few Halliday relatives of his that live in the Newburyport/Amesbury, MA area. My mother now lives in Hampton, NH.
She may have more info if you are interested.

My father Joseph Robert was the son of Laura May Halliday and Joseph Raymond Halliday. He was born in October 9, 1931 in Lynn Mass. They were married in New York around 1930. Joseph Raymond Halliday's sister, Olga, was a witness to the wedding. Shortly after my father was born Joseph Raymond left and divorced Laura, my father thinks thats how they split up. Laura didn't talk much about his biological father and he didn't even know about his father until he was 17 and went into the army.

My maiden name was Halliday and I am from Gloucestershire. There is no way to PROVE Walter's existence except from history books. He was indeed the Master of the King's Revels. I have more information.
