This is an old post, but I thought I'd reply anyway hoping it may help someone. In the genealogy my mom spent over 20 years doing, she has a Euell Clement Hallmark b. 12 Mar 1901, Bell County, Texas. His father was William Clement Hallmark b. 11 Sept 1878, Sparta, Bell County, Texas, married Elizabeth "Maggie" Doss, b. 18 September 1878, Bell County, Texas.

Maggie's parents are also my gg grandparents:
Jesse "Pap" Doss born 5 March 1806, Stokes County, North Carolina, died 30 August 1870, Near Sparta, Bell County, Texas. He married Violet Wilson, b. 16 June 1805, Montgomery County, VA, d. 7 June 1897, Near Bell County, Texas. They were both buried in Sparta in Bell County, Texas but that location has since been flooded by Lake Belton, so Sparta no longer exists. However, their graves have been moved to: Jesse - McDowell Cemetery, Belton, Bell county, TX; Violet - Resthaven Cemetery, Belton, Bell County, Texas.

Jesse and Violet, born and married in North Carolina had their first child, Elizabeth in NC, then began a trip through Kentucky, and Indiana (as far as we know by the birth states of their children), and landed in Hancock County, Illinois, along with many allied families and Violet's parents moved their and died there. Jesse and Violet along with several children moved to Bell County, Texas between 1850 and 1860 and died there. Two of Jesse and Violet's son's went to California during the Gold Rush and stayed and raised families there. Most of their other children married and had families around the Bell County, TX area.

My great grandfather was the son of Jesse and Violet Doss, Christian Christopher Doss b. 1 November 1835, Hancock County, IL, and his son Joel Franklin was born 24 February 1877, Bell Co, TX who married Othello McLelland, b. San Saba Co, TX, daughter of Franklin Moses McLelland, born Winston County, MS.

My Hallmark relative put that she was born in Georgia on several census. Her year of birth was 1824. In 1850 Census she was living in Texas with her husband William S Wilkerson and their children. I have her name as Serina E. Hallmark but it's often spelled various ways in census documents. I believe Serina and William's first child was born in 1840 when Serina was about 16 years old. They lived in Houston, Texas.

Jasper and Katie are my great-grandparents. Their daughter, Irene June Hallmark, was my grandmother. I met her brother, Lawrence, a few times, as he would visit us in San Diego, CA. He died sometime in 1960-1964, I believe. Irene died in 1964 and is buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA. Irene's daughter, Angellina, was my mother--she died in 1981. My mother's brother, Bert, died in 1979. I have never met any of the other relatives--have been trying to locate them mostly for genealogical purposes. Any information that you could send to me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It would appear that my father's uncle Jasper is not the same Jasper Hallmark.

I have seen records concerning a Jasper Edwin Hallmark who had a wife of that name. He was the son of a Jasper N. Hallmark and Amanda A. Ringer. Jasper N. Hallmark was a younger brother of my great grandfather James Minet Hallmark. Their father was Richard H. Hallmark, son of George Hallmark who came from England and is listed in the DAR records.

There has been a large gathering of Hallmarks in Houston County Texas each June. I attended in the late 1980ties.

Fred: My former grandmother-in-law was Audrey Hallmark Roberts. I think she was born in June 1900. She was from that area as my ex-husband was born in Batesville on 14 July 1945. Audrey was either divorced or windowed and had three girls that I know of: (1) Ina Mae Roberts Stewart(deceased)- my former mother-in-law, Winona and Mable. Mable was deaf due to an accident or illness as a child, her husband was also deaf and they had a son named Billy. I think Mabel was the baby of the 3 girls. Winona had a retarded daughter in a hospital in California. Sometime around 1983 or 1984, I think they all moved back to Batesville from Las Vegas, NV and Phoenix, AZ. Don't remember if there was a son. I am also starting genealogy on her line for my kids and grandkids and this is all I have to start with. Good luck and let me know if you find out anything. Thanks, Carolyn aka grandmaCC3@aol.com

Mabeth, Thanks so much. The Baker name gave me the clue I needed. She married a James Durwood Baker. They had three children in Bell County, then three in Galveston TX.

Inez's mother Carrie Yarbrough-Stuart-Hallmark was the daughter of John Beaufort Yarbrough (my ggrandfather's brother) and Needum Williamson.

I have a photo clip of Robert Wesley Hallmark; I copied the Confederate soldier's reunion photo from the Houston COunty website.

Was "T C" your father's given name? or initials?

Thanks again

I am Mabeth Hallmark Coleman from Branch 4 of the Hallmarks. George Washington, Elisha Cummins, Edward Walter, TC.
I am one of 4 children of TC Hallmark and Rebecca de Cordova.
As a child I remember my Dad's cousin Inez visiting our family in La Marque, Texas. She was Inez Baker. I do not remember her husbands name but my sister might.
I have one note on a family tree that has Inez Baker as a child under someone named Mattie. It's just a stick drawing and I don't know what it means. I recall that she lived in the Houston or Beaumont area.

Yes, I think I do remember the name Durwood in relation to Inez. The information I have found on several Hallmark family trees indicates that Inez was born to Authur Cullen and Mattie unknown and her siblings were El, 1906, Eulane,, 1909, Mary 1912, Allie 1914, A C Jr, 1920 Edna 1924 and Elanor 1926, There is a record of her living in Bell County in the 1930 census. Is this the same person? Authur Cullen was a brother to my grandfather Eddie Walter.

My father's name was indeed just the letters T C

This Hallmark family is quite large, isn't it?
Mabeth
Interested in corresponding with anyone with knowledge about the family and ancestry of one Cruse Maxie Hallmark who was born probably in Houston County, Texas in 1906, married Ara Nichols, and had several children. He lived in Sabine County, Texas in 1920 with his parents, Steve W. and Madora Hallmark; and in 1930 was living in San Augustine County, Texas with his wife and daughter. I believe that Cruse Hallmark died in Houston, Harris County, in 1982.

This person is the only one of the several children born to Steve and Madora Hallmark that I can find in any census. I'm especially interested in knowing what happened to Steve W. Hallmark and his other children.
