Lois Retherford has walked the cemetery and computerized the information and you should be able to contact her through that website and get the information you seek.
Good luck.

http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mygermanfami...

halstead in michigan

I have little to no information on a great grandmother. Her name was Mary Ellen Clark (dad was John Clark), she married my great grandfather first so she became a Scott and then divorced in early 1900, probably around 1913 or so then she moved back to southern Michigan and married a Halstead. Probably died around 1950's in the Detroit area.
My dad and his oldest brother used to visit her- i guess she was a mean thing. She was very tiny, I have pictured of her. I don't know if she had other children. She had four with my great grandfather Charles Amasa Scott but two died as infants.
She was my grandpa Gleason Ninnion Scott's mother and I would like to know more about her. He lived in Antrim County Michigan.
So if anyone has a Halstead who married a Mary Ellen Scott. Please let me know.
SueFeather@aol.com or snotball888@yahoo.com
Thanks,
Sue (Scott) Feather

Have you checked the Halstead Surname Project at www.familytreedna.com/public/halstead? I also have a cute little wooden house from Shelia's that is a copy of the Halstead House in Coldwater, Michigan, built 1870. Are you related to these Halstead's? What are your specific questions?
Linda

I know they only had two children about twenty years apart in Michigan. I don't any more about them and can't find any information.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you
I do not have anyone with the name of Lester in my ancestry, however, I can furnish you with a little information that might help you. Several years ago I visited the town of Halsted, Minnesota (it is located in the Red River valley of western Minnesota on US Hiway 75, north of Moorehead). The town was named after an Oly Halsted and he is buried north of there in a Lutheran cemetery. I thought this might help since it would not be to far from Max, ND, and maybe your dad or grandad could be related to him. Good luck in your search. Pete Halstead

Isaac Halstead married to Rachael

Looking for information. Isaac born @ 1821 in NY; was a boatman in 1860 census(Oyster Bay). Rachael was from England, born @ 1822. Had 2 children in NY - Thomas K (born 1843) and Hannah (born 1847). Isaac and Rachael show up in 1860 US Census in 1860. Moved to Jersey City, NJ before 1860 because Charles C was born in NJ 1860, Estelle 1861 and Flora 1862. Big gap in births makes me wonder if Rachael was actually first wife. Does anyone have information on this Isaac from NY who moved to NJ? Estelle Halstead married by great grandfather, Joseph Henry Jones, who was born in NYC @ 1859.

Thanks!

Re: Job Halstead b @ 1765 lived in Oyster Bay, Queens, NY _ I goofed!

Thanks! You gave me the right information - I gave the wrong information! The Halsteads I'm looking for stayed in Oyster Bay for awhile - I'm actually trying to find out who James Halstead's father was. The Job in Oyster Bay was born in 1747 but his James child was born in 1771, not @1800, and none of his children had children named James born @ 1800. "My" James was born @ 1800 in Oyster Bay and stayed there for quite a while since he married Maria and had 4 children in Oyster Bay. Isaac is one of the children - he married Rachael, who was from England - and they moved to Jersey City before 1860 after having 2 children and then birthed Estelle, my great-grandmother, in Jersey City in Aug 1861. It just seems too coincidental that James and Isaac wouldn't be part of the "Jonas" line since he lived in Oyster Bay. James, Ann E, Treadwell, Hannah M, Isaac V, Maria, Mary, Rachael and Thomas K all show up in the 1850 census for Oyster Bay. James does not show up in the 1850 census. I know I am just missing a link or two to the Jonas line. Grrrr, very frustrating.

Thank you again!

Pat

I'm missing a link or two. Isaac Halstead (born Oyster Bay @1821) moved to Jersey City before 1860. His father was James Halstead, married to Maria, born @ 1800 in Oyster Bay, who had 3 other children in that marriage - Treadwell, Mary and Ann. What I have not been able to do is link with one of the other Halstead's born in Oyster Bay, which would eventually lead to Jonas Halstead born in @1673. Can someone help with the link up? Trying to give this genealogy to my father on his 85th birthday (July 31, 2007) so I am desperate!

Pat

George Anthony HALSTEAD born Clitheroe Lancashire 1871

I am looking for information about my Great Grandfather George Anthony HALSTEAD born in Clitheroe Lancashire in 1871 He was Married to Mary Jane Candlish their children were Ellen, Margaret Ann (my grandmother), cecil, Alexander, Richard, William and Lilly, and they lived in Lytham. I have found him on the 1881 Census listed as George Alstead aged 9,With a brother Richard Alstead aged 6, and Mother listed as Helen Alstead 41 born in Pimlico, also on the 1891 Census listed as George HALSTEAD aged 19, with Richard HALSTEAD aged 16 and Ellen HALSTEAD aged 50, as You can see Their surname is spelt differently also the mothers name is different at each census but I believe that often the enumerator wrote down what he heard and if someone couldn't read then they couldn't correct the entry. I have no information as to the father.

Are you a halstead with connections to Clitheroe?
Do you have a George Anthony in your tree?
Do you have any information?

If so please get in touch soon

Many thanks

Colleen Sutcliffe Nee Dean

My grandma was a halstead and her family line goes back to indiana and iowa. From what I have read on the name Halstead it came from the name of Holsted. The name Holsted is german after the village Holsted, germany.

We...well I. Believe it started with Lorenzo, but not sure. No one in the family can prove this one way or the other. Lorenzo came here in 1836,one of the founding fathers. He owned a men's shop and a furrier business in Coldwater. He owned a house in town and a farm in Quincy. I know he came from Watertown, N.Y. I would have to go back to the library for the rest. I remember he had a brother that was a baker. For Barnum Circus I think. LOL we have a fat lady buried in the cemetery in town also. Not sure if she was a part of the act or not. I think One brother went north. And another went to Chicago...Memory fails me for the rest of the info.
Please tell me more if you are able. Thank You

You have a yellow Itaianate house with white trim? Lorenzo Halstead owned that house and a farm in Quincy Mi. Six miles east of Coldwater on U.S. 12. (The farm is not on us 12) I am from Coldwater. The Coldwater library has a geneology room with a bit of info on us going back to New York. I belive Watertown a city or county. Anywho drop a line.
Bhals@hotmail.com
