Charles C. Ham

I am looking for the wife of Charles C. Ham (b. 1806 New Meadows, Maine), son of James Ham and his cousin Mary Ham. He is also the great-grandson of Tobias Ham of Portsmouth NH and Brunswick, Maine. Census records indicate that his wife's name is Charlotte T. Ham. When my grandmother, Helen Atkinson Ham, looked into the Ham genealogy years ago she listed Charles' wife as Charlotte Thompson but I have found other records that list her as Charlotte Lincoln. Is there a "Ham Family" expert out there who knows Charlotte's maiden name and lineage? Thanks...any hints greatly appreciated.

Hams in SC 1700's

I'm interested in the John Hams in SC in Union, Fairfield, Edgefield or other counties in 1790-1810. One of them had several sons with unusual names: Archibald, Littleton, Ichabud, etc. They moved into Georgia in early 1800's - Washington, Wilkinson, Twiggs -- it seemed to be in central Georgia but not the Ham in Elbert County.

I am hoping someone can tell me more about "The Ham Branches" book? I am related to the Ham/Hamm's and am hoping that my line from West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina are in this book. Here is my line...Great Grandfather Jordan Elzavan Ham/Hamm married Ada Florence Morris. Jordan Elzavan's father was William Jordan Ham who married Columbia McMelion. William Jordan's father was (I believe) John Ham who married Sarah Landreth. If anyone knows more or might be able to tell me how to purchase the book, I would love to know more on my Ham/Hamm family!

Thank you in advance!
My grandmother Angeline Ham told that she had Indian blood. She was born in GA in 1851 and married in LA in 1869. She said she received a letter from Oklahoma. It stated that she had land there, but in order to claim it she would have to live there. I am assuming this would be from one of the Indian reservations. Does anyone know how I might possibly get information or verify if this is true. I do not know which tribe she would have been part of.
melbabair@verizon.net

Looking for descendants of James W. Inman and Mary E. Inman, my great-great grandparents. My great grandmother was Barbara Tennessee (Inman), she married Charles Roark Mitchell. I know someone is out there because I found flowers on the James W. Inman's tombstone in Summerfield, OK on July 26, 2001. I'm working on family genealogy, so if you have information to share I would appreciate your sharing such information, and I will be more than glad to share what information I have. Thanks, Marty

HAM lineage from SC

Dave Ham suggested I seek info from SC HAM researchers. I am searching for the ancestors of my g-g-g-grandfather, John HAM, b. 1812 in KY. I have been told, but not able to verify yet, that he died in 1878.

John HAM m. Ellender "Nellie" FRAKES in 1832 in Perry County, IN. His family is listed in the Perry County, IN censuses from 1840 thru 1870. Although Nellie was supposedly alive in 1880, I cannot find her in the census.

John is listed as "cannot read or write" in all censuses which listed this choice. His first occupation is listed as "farmer". However, the area of Perry County that he settled did not have good farmland. The subsequent censuses listed his occupation as "laborer" and "farm laborer".

I have not been able to find out anything of John's ancestry for several years. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Laura

Marie was b. abt 1900, she married a Mr. Hanks. Her brother was named Johnnie and I'm guessing he was born abt. 1913. My step-father said there were many many children in his dad's family. They originated from Louisiana.
That's all the information I have. It would be nice to hear from either side of this family!!
Thanks,
Lisa

Ham Surname

I thought others might be interested in this. I found it on ancestry.com Ham is a topographic surname, and denotes a patch of flat, low-lying land beside a stream, often a promontory or water meadow in a river bend. And I thought it had to do with the ham you eat!
Janet Hopkins

Samuel (S R) Ham family

Samuel, Ann, Mary I(Isabella) Ham along with an Edward Leeson were enumerated in the 1880 TX Milam Co Census.

S R Ham, Ann, W(William) C Boyd and L(Locke) B Boyd are enumerated together in the 1870 TN Davidson Co Census. William and Locke are Ann's half-brothers.

They are not listed with her in the 1880 TX census, so I don't know if they came to Milam Co with her and Samuel. I have found some Boyds in Limestone and Freestone Counties, but I have not connected to them as of yet.

Mary I Ham would have been 18 in 1890 Census. And probably married by the 1900 Census, maybe even the 1890 Census. Does anyone have a connection to these families? Anyone have the knowledge of who Mary I Ham married?

Thanks,
Dale

Payette Independent
Payette, Idaho
Friday, October 21, 1904

New Arrivals.

D. A. Ham, R. Cooper and T. H. Sanger with their families have arrived in Payette from White Lake, S. D. They will spend the winter here and if they like the country will locate permanently. Mr. Sanger, who is a son-in-law of Mr. Ham, comes to Payette principally on account of his health, as he has asthma in a severe form. Should he find that the climate benefits him here and decided to make his home among us he will probably be the means of having considerable capital invested in the valley, his father being a man of wealth who is anxious to secure property in some prosperous western community.
DATA: Ham, William & W. listed in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

DATA Message RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA).

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes). It includes the following name(s):

Ham, W.
Ham, William

There's over 1,900 records, so I've only listed the name(s), as it appears in the yearbook in this message.

If you would like to view all of the information that I extracted from the yearbook, I have uploaded it to my freepages genealogy web site. The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that my site contains free genealogy related data & IS NOT a "commercial" or "advertising" site. Until I can get back out & do research on my own families, my hobby is posting free genealogy related data online that may help other reseachers. I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site (including information others send to me to share on the site), not just data about the families I am researching (therefore I can't answer questions about everyone I have listed on the site). I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

I have an Alice Ham mentioned in some of my research, who was a housemaid to my family; Thomas Oldham Barlow, his wife Ellen, and their daughters Lucy and Mary Anna. She was born about 1850 in St Mary Abbott's London. I think she had a sister Emma and a brother, or father called George. My family's house was Auburn Lodge, 38a Victoria Rd, Kensington. I would love to hear from a decendent of hers.

Looking for info on Alice Ham who was married to Henry Toon, my ggrandfather. They lived in the Cincinnati area and had three children in the 1880s: Henry, Clarence and E. George. I believe Alice was from England. They were involved with a Masonic Lodge, the Eastern Star, I think. I'm trying to get some background on the Ham line. Have lots on the Toons.

HAM DNA Project

After researching the HAM surname in Virginia for over ten years, and co-authoring a three volume work on the HAM surname, we now have a different tactic for the research of HAM immigrants to the US.

I would like to announce that I have started a HAM DNA Project, and am looking for participants.
I believe that the DNA research should only tell you if you are related, but not exactly how or when the connection occurred.
If we have enough research, it should take some of the guessing more accurate.

I have included a link to the HAM DNA Project from the
navigation bar on my "HAM Country" web page below.
I am hoping for some participants in the hunt for the immigrant HAM ancestors.

- Dave
===============================================
Dave Hamm Novi, Michigan

email: odoniv@earthlink.net
URL: http://home.earthlink.net/~odoniv/HamCountry/HAMCountry.html
===============================================
