October 15, 1902, State newspaper (SC): BURIAL OF MRS. MARY E. HAMES: Converse, SC, Oct 14: The body of Mrs. Mary E. Hames, widow of the late W.W. HAMES, who died last Saturday at the home of her son-in-law, E.T. Barnes of Columbia, was brought to this place yesterday for interment at the Clifton cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Hames had a large family of children and were among the first who came to Clifton Mill No. 1 in the early eighty’s. E.T. Barnes, overseer of spinning at the Olympia Mills, was here yesterday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Hames.
