Hi, looking for the family link between my g-g-g-grandmother, Judith Hamilton, and the Marquis of Abercorn. A book on Australian pioneer families mentioned that she was related to him - but I've no idea how (and, presumably there was more than one Marquis of Abercorn??).
Andy

Obit - Roscoe Hamilton, 1888, Union County, Tennessee

The Knoxville Journal
Knoxville, Tennessee
April 12, 1888

Died.

About three o’clock on the morning of April 1st, at his house, Esco, Union county, Tenn, Roscoe, the son of E. A. and Pernina C. Hamilton. He was a bright boy, only six years and eight-months old. He had marks of a long and useful life before him, being physically strong and having an active mind. He had attended school only a few months, but had made rapid progress in that short time. He manifested great interest in his studies, and on hearing the bell ring for school would cry because he could not go, and would talk about his classmates getting before him. His cheerful and lively disposition also endeared him to his parents. But he is gone . . . Roscoe leaves three brothers and one sister behind.

Hamilton - Langley - Edgefield, SC

David Langley died 1822 in Edgefield Dist. SC. His will names his wife Sarah, his mother-in-law Mary Anderson and his "wife's son James Hamilton". His will also says that "I give to James Hamilton after my wife's death or marriage 50 acres of land to be laid out of that left my wife ajoining of Sanders/Landers Hamilton's land". One of the witneses of the will is Alexander Hambleton/Hamilton.

Who was Sarah's first husband Mr. Hamilton, and when did he die? A James Hamilton died in 1802 in Fairfield, SC and Sarah Hamilton was the Administrator. Is this the Sarah (probably Anderson) Hamilton who married David Langley?

A add on to the list of Hamilton Names here are the States and Territorys

I was asked what State and County gose with the names. I did not give them because If you were looking for a William in one State and County he could own land in some other State, and you could miss out on some good Info. If you are looking for a William or James or whoever get all of that name and go from there. I well list the State and Territorys only.

Georgia
Mississippi Territory
Northwestern Territory-Illinois county
District of Vincennes-Indiana
Orleans Territory
Land west of Pearl River
Louisiana
Missouri
District of Kaskaskia
West Florida
District of St. Helena
Land under the Choctaw Treaty
Virginia
Wabash and Erie Canal Land

Looking for information on William T., Mary Jane, and Burdell Hamilton that appear on the 1880 US Census in Lower Penns Neck NJ with my grandfather, Frank Hamilton.
Family oral tradition says Frank was an only child and orphaned early.

Frank also appears in the 1895 NJ State Census (Upper Pittsgrove) as part of the Tarpine (Tarpino? Tarpins?) household, which is 2 households away from another William & Mary Hamilton group w/other children. However, I do not believe this is the right William & Mary.

Frank died in 1938. Unable to find birth, marriage, or death confirmation for anyone in the 1850-1900 timeframe, or any early/parent info on William T. & Mary Jane.

Had my Dad's DNA tested with FTDNA (highly recommended), but no helpful matches have also been tested....yet!

Any help greatly appreciated!

I'm looking for any information on this man, and his extended family. He is my husbands grandfather. We think he was born sometime between 1920-1930, we know he was in the military and possibly in WWII. He was married to Virginia Lee and had three children, Dwight Jr, James and Diane. We know he passed away in Oroville, CA about ten years ago. Virginia Lee also passed away around ten years ago. The only other piece of information we have is that he was adopted along with his sister Debbie. Adopted parents surnames were either; Day or Meeks. I'm looking for parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, dates, and any records. Thanks

John Hamilton 1768: Son of Thomas Hamilton/Esther Sampson?

I'm finding conflicting stories about John Hamilton of Sullivan County, Tennessee. One has a recently widowed mother bringing 6 children(including Joshua born 1759)from Northern Ireland around 1773. Another has both John and Joshua as one of the many children of Thomas Hamilton/Esther Sampson. Does anyone have a definitive answer? I know Thomas and Esther had a son named Benjamin who briefly came to the Sullivan County area...Thanks!

Hello -- I am looking for information on Miss Alma Ross who lived in Wellman, Iowa in 1898. I believe she was a single lady, perhaps born abt 1884. A family member may have died in 1898 and she probably moved to Battle Creek, Michigan, where she worked for the Review & Herald (Newspaper?)Office. I have three envelopes and snippets of letters sent to her - first in Wellman and then in Battle Creek. One letter to Wellman indicates "care of W. ? Hamilton."

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thank you - Sue sug53@earthlink.net

Wanting to know where Flora Hamilton is buried. Born in Wisconsin as Flora DAVID. married 1879 to John Wesley Hamilton. Child born Bruce Wesley Hamilton in 1880 in Iowa. Last I know of she had her last daughter Frances R Hamilton in Casper, Natrona County Wyoming in 1887. Flora is not in the 1900 census with her husband and son in Chadron, NE and her daughters are scattered with other relatives. So I am guessing that she passed away between 1887 and 1900 somewhere Wyoming, South Dakota to Nebraska

Re: Albert Hamilton

My mother,Willie Bell Hamilton, her father,Amos Hamilton, who was born in England,to an English father, and a Colored and Welsh mother, had a brother named Albert, and one named Carey, and a sister named Alice. They all came here from England with their parents when Amos was about eight. They settled in either Jacksonville,Florida,or Jackson,Mississippi.Amos married an American Indian woman named Alberta Freeman.I'm not sure who the others married. My mother was very vague, about how much shje told me of her family. She and her mother didn't get along, and her father, was killed in the war overseas when she was about two,so she was raised by mostly her grandparents, her mother's parents. If this is the same person, please contact me with whatever information you have.I would really appreciate it.

Many Thanks,
Domino Lennon.

Hamilton/Weldon in Birmingham/Mobile, AL

I am researching the Hamilton/Weldon side of my family. My great grandmother was Margaret Lee Hamilton born about 1910 in Birmingham, AL. Her parents were James N (born abt 1874) and Minnie L (born abt 1878). They also had 1 other daughter, Grace L (born abt 1906). Margaret married William F. Weldon, also from Birmingham. I believe they lived in Memphis, TN for a while and eventually moved down to Mobile, AL.
Is anyone else researching this line or do any of these names appear on your family tree? Any help would be appreciated. You can contact me at JACLYNLSAWYER@HOTMAIL.COM
Thanks.

obit - Elizabeth (HAMILTON) DOUGLASS, 1787-1864

North Iowa Times, Sept 19, 1907 – TIMES PAST
DIED. At the home of Gilbert DOUGLASS, in McGregor, on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 2 a.m., after a long illness Mrs. Elizabeth DOUGLASS, mother of Mrs. R. Noble, and Edmunds and George DOUGLASS, of this vicinity. The deceased was a venerable lady for whom all felt a deep regard, and her death demands more than a passing notice. Elizabeth HAMILTON was born in Vermont April 25th, 1787, and at her death was in the 78th year of her age just as old as the Constitution of our Country. She was married in 1806 to Gilbert Douglass, emigrated to New York in 1813, to Illinois in 1824 where her husband died, leaving her the care of several children. In 1845 she removed to this (Clayton) county, where she has since resided. The feebleness of her age added to the pains of disease were borne with a patience and composure that exhibited a consciousness of having done her part well in life and a confidence in a glorious eternity beyond the grave. May He who rules our lives guide us in that path which leads to the blissful future, merited by the worthy mother whose virtues we feebly commemorate
Charles and William Hamilton, Orleans Co., NY

Looking for the father of William (b. abt 1867) and Charles (b. abt 1870) Hamilton of Orleans County, New York. Their mother, Mary, was the widow of John E. Hughes - he died sometime between 1865-1867. Her marriage to Mr. Hamilton was brief, beginning about 1866/67; he appears to have died in 1869 or early 1870. Mary appears in the poorhouse with the oldest son (based on census data and birth dates, I'm guessing the younger was born in the poorhouse)and a daughter from her first marriage. She married George Ramshaw of Ridgeway, Orleans, NY, by 1875 and William and Charles are living with them then. In 1880, William is living elsewhere as a farm laborer, but Charles is still at home with his mother.

I'm not related but it may help someone doing Hamilton research.

From "The Mansfield News," Mansfield, Ohio, Monday, 12-18-1899:

Louisa, Ky., Dec. 18 --"A sad accident occurred near Alliance post office, Floyd county, resulting in the death of Nelson Hamilton and three of his children. Hamilton, who was preparing to do some blasting, was pouring out some powder from a keg when his 4-year old son picked up a small amount and tossed it into the fire. Then the key was exploded and house took fire."

Benjamin Franklin Hamilton

I am looking for any information on Benjamin Franklin Hamilton. He is my great-grandfather. He was born in Kibbee, Georgia. According his son (my grandfather), he was born in April 30 of 1888 (although a 1900 census says 1889...could be wrong though). I found a WWI Draft Registration Card with the birth date of April 30, 1888 and a WWII Draft Registration card. If you have any information, please let me know.

William and Archibald HAMILTON in NC 1790 - 1840

Hi.

I am seeking information on the families of William Hamilton (b. abt 1794) and Sarah McCulley (b. abt 1796), who married in 1817 in Orange Co., North Carolina. Their bondsman was Archibald Hamilton (it has been suggested to me that he was William's brother and married Frances Bird).

Assuming that I have the right William and Sarah Hamilton, they had the following children (all born in Orange Co., NC): Mary Adeline (b. 1818), Kirk, Albert B., Joseph A., Martha P., Andrew M., Lula Almeda, James, Julia (and/or Frances), Caroline Cornelius, Sarah Mariah, and Margaret Elizabeth (b.1837). The family moved to Orange Co., IN about 1840. I have further information regarding their descendants.

Would love to confirm that the 1817 marriage record is the same couple that migrated to Indiana or find out more about the family of William and Archibald.
