My great-grandfather was James H. Hammer or Hammers, born about 1875 in Tennessee (or possibly Indian Territory). Both his parent were born in Tennessee, but that's all I know about them. He ended up in De Leon, Comanche County, Texas, where he married Sarah/Sally Dodson in 1895. His children were named Norah Artie, Velma, Junette, Wendell and Walter, all born between 1895 and 1909. The family moved near Los Angeles before 1910, and I believe James died shortly after that. I've found a lot of Hammers with similar first names in Comanche County, Texas, leading me to believe there's a connection. Anyone have any info?
