Seeking information on any Hammerstroms from the Silverhill, Baldwin County, Alabama area. My husband's great-grandfather was reportedly from this area. I am unable to find him, his wife or children on any census from any decade anywhere, so my trail has run cold! His name was Jon Hammerstrom, born 1868 according to tombstone. Swedish ethnicity. His wife was Lina (actually Karolina) Johansson/Johnson, from Kent City, Kent County, Michigan. I see on the Silverhill history site that there were a Jonas and Lina Hammerstrom among the founders of Evangelical Swedish Lutheran Zion Church - I suspect he may be the same man because of the unusual way Jon spelled his name, together with the wife's name and locality. They suddenly reappear in Kent County, Michigan about 1915/1916. They had five children: Henry W. (b. 1908), P. Albert (b. 1910), Carl August (b. 1915), Adelia/Delia, and Hilder/Hildur. Any information on Jonas, Jon, or any other Hammerstroms in Silverhill would be much appreciated. Thank you.
