I will try to be as helpful as I can but I am going through my dad's records and I remember trying to research the family as we were growing up so this is what I can tell you at this point.
My Great Grandparents were Anna (Mauer) and Michael Hammes. Michaels parents names are Peter Hammes and Maria Assion both born in Germany. Michael came to Newberry Michigan in 1887 (1859 - 1928). They had four children Ferdinand (1890-1919), Gertrude (1893-1949), August (1894-1967) and John (1896 -1986). I hope that this may help you in some manner.
