Anyone interested in Roscoe Roy Hammitt this is some information I learned from his niece. Roscoe was very close to his mother and was called Roy by his nephews and nieces. That he loved to play the fiddle particularly for local barn dances. His son during the war was stationed in the Philippines apparently the war was over and Roscoe was expecting him home soon. His son went for a walk and was killed by a sniper. Instead of seeing his son he received a telegram indicating that his son had died. He never played the fiddle again. I am related through Mabel Marie Hammitt Sephenson. She is my Great GrandMother. Any information from this line would be welcomed. I also have a couple of tin types that I scanned and I am not sure who they may be and wish to have them identified. I believe them to be sisters of Roscoe Hammitt.
