Elijah Hammond Family (SC, GA, AL) Confusion

Classification: Query
Surnames: Hammond, Mullins, Green,
Sources led me to believe that Elijah Hammond of Pendleton Co, SC was the father of one Elizabeth A. Hammond Mullins. There are many different Elijah Hammonds, and in an attempt to figure out this mess, I am posting (in this message) everything I have come across in regards to Elijah Hammond. If anyone can shed light on this, it would be much appreciated.

I am looking for Elijah Hammond who was the father of Elizabeth A. Hammond Mullins. He would have been born in South Carolina and moved to Georgia prior to 1833 with his family, as that is where his daughter was married and when. He may or may not have had more than one wife, may or may not have been born in 1790 or as late as 1799. He may or may not have been an Elijah Jr and may have married as early as 1809. All I know for sure is that his daughter was born abt 1815 in South Carolina and Married 21 Nov 1833 in Georgia. That is all I can prove about this family.

There are two Elijah Hammonds on this, one right above the other. This is the data for the two.

I, in no way, believe all of these to be the same Elijah, yet some people have them listed as just that.

The Elijah primarily listed on these census's is believed to have been born between 1791 and 1799 in South Carolina and married to 3 woman; Esther (Easter Green), Mary & Milla. And father to the following children; Elijah Jr (listed on 1860 census above), Elizabeth A., William, Mary Ann, James W., Andrew Jackson, Frances Ann, George Washington, Thomas McCoy, Martin Van Buren, Caroline, James Knox Polk, Larkin, and infant.

As you can see from the census information, this is a confusing mess. While it is possible that the Elijah Hammond, age 61, listed on the 1860 census above Elizabeth A. Hammond Mullins would be family, to be her father he would have been 16 at her birth. Not unheard of, but suppossedly she had older siblings. The marriage between Elijah Hammond and Ester (Easter Green) suppossedly took place in 1809, but that would be impossible if he was born in 1799. Not so if born in 1791, but I'm having a hard time finding this data.

The Elijah Hammond on the 1810 Pendleton, SC Census and the 1830 Campbell Co, GA census are probably one and the same, and the father of Elizabeth A. as she was married in Georgia in 1833 and she was born in South Carolina. But after that, I have no idea what to think or where to go.

I have spent almost 6 years trying to sort out this mess, and am hoping someone else with have more information or will be able to look at it from a different perspective and help me.

There was alot of speculation about Elizabeth A. Hammond Mullins husband Green Mullins and the family he belonged to. The exact same problems that I am having with this family. Alot of people have put up information on the web, but very rarily substanciated, and in the case of Green Mullins, wrong it appears.
