Kenneth Hammond
NISKAYUNA — Kenneth F. Hammond, 92, of Regent Street, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1998, at St. Clare's Hospital, Schenectady, after a long illness.
He was born in Whitehall. Mr. Hammond moved to Oneonta in 1920, and was a 1922 graduate of Oneonta High School.
He worked for the Delaware & Hudson Railroad at its Oneonta office where he was secretary/treasurer of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks. In 1958, he moved to Niskayuna and was transferred to the D&H Plaza Building in Albany. There he was supervisor of working agreements in the transportation department until retiring in 1970.
Mr. Hammond was a Boy Scout leader in Oneonta. He also was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta and a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Schenectady.
His wife, Madolyn Todd Hammond, whom he married Sept. 20, 1929, died in 1993.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Whitmarsh of Niskayuna; a brother, Edwin Harold Hammond of Wassiac; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be private. Burial will be in North Granville Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 66 Chestnut St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820, or to Faith United Methodist Church, Schenectady.
Arrangements are by the Baxter-Andrew Funeral Home, Schenectady.
