Looking for info on Titus Hammond Family & son Elijah Hammond b) Feb 1823 in Conn d) July 1903 in Michigan
I am looking for information on Titus Hammond of New York. My 2x grandfather Elijah Hammond's (born Feb. 20, 1823 in Conn / died July 1, 1903 in Chelsea, Mich) death certificate lists Titus Hammond as father and 'unknown' as mother. I have recently sent for a birth certificate from Tolland, CT hoping that something comes back to verity the death cert. info. I am having a hard time (mentally) connecting Elijah with Titus because of the age difference. Titus would have been 60+ years old when Elijah was born. Could Titus be the grandfather and not the father? Could Elijah be another son of Titus and second wife Charity Chandler who married in 1818? I was wondering if anyone could provide additional information. I have Elijah's descendent info that I can share.
