YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Nathaniel L. Hammonds Jr., 69, passed away Sept. 4, 2012.
He was born Jan. 24, 1943, in Beckley, West Virginia, (Raleigh County) to Nathaniel Hammonds Sr. and Willie Jean Wright.
He was a very skilled person who was able to do many things, but spent most of his years employed at Valley Mold.
Mr. Hammonds was blessed with two Bishops to guide him in his spiritual journey. In Youngstown, Ohio he was a member of the Love Deliverance Center under Bishop Paul Pegues and when he moved to Columbus, Ohio eight years ago, he joined the Grace New Covenant Apostolic Church under Bishop George Fly. The guidance, love and care that he received under both of the Bishops was a source of strength for him that he always cherished.
He leaves to cherish his memory, fiance Valerie Davis of Columbus; sons Haryl (Rica) Dabney of Wheeling, W.Va., Daryl (Ramona) Dabney of New Castle, Pa., Leroy Hammonds Sr. (Robin Coleman), Nathaniel (Tiffany) Hammonds III, and Derrick Thigpen, all of Youngstown, and Corey and David Hammonds, both of Warren; daughters Carla Hammonds (Michael Watkins) of Youngstown and Stephanie Dabney of Washington, DC; 26 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marvice Hammonds; parents; aunts; uncles; and a special uncle, James Wright.
Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at noon at the Revealing Truth Ministries, 2750 Gibson St., formerly the Love Deliverance Center Church.
The family will receive friends at the church from 11 a.m. until time of service.
