KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, Florida - William R. Hamon, 86, succumbed to a long illness of emphysema on September 1, 2008.

A memorial service was held at New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages on Sept. 4, followed by internment in Keystone HEIGHTS.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Bill’s name to your local chapter of the American Legion. Arrangements are under the care of Jones Gallagher Funeral Home, Keystone HEIGHTS.

He was a resident of the Village of De la Vista West, Fla. for eight years.

He was born June 11, 1922, in Keenesburg, Colo., and moved to Miami, Fla. at age 5 where he lived until retiring in 1986. Moving to Keystone HEIGHTS, he lived there 14 years with his beloved wife, Mary Frances, who preceded him in death in 1992.

He served with the Navy as a seaman, fireman during World War II. His career with Pan American World Airways spanned five decades, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion and Florida Highway Patrolman’s Auxiliary for many years.

He is survived by his daughter, Gayle Stinson and husband, Bob, of Village of Santiago, their three children, Kevin (Nicole), Kimberli (Paul) and Kyle, a Marion County Firefighter/EMT, son, Robert and wife, Melissa and son Christopher of Houston, Texas and son James and wife, Karien, of Tampa, Fla. and their three children Ashlee, Amber and Austin. His fourth child, Evelyn Daily preceded him in death in 1990 and she had a daughter, Delaney, of Stuart, Fla. He was blessed with six great-grandchildren.

Arthur W. Hamon, 77, of Omaha died on September 17, 1999 at Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson, Missouri. Funeral services were held Monday at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Wood officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Whelchel Funeral Chapel. He was born on October 27, 1921 in Farewell, one of nine children, to the late Robert and Della (Littrell) Hamon. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard and a retired carpenter. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Hamon.

I am also researching the Grant Hamon line. Pearl Hamon a daughter of Grant Hamon is my son's great great grandmother. I knew her for a few years before she pasted. Eli Hamon was Grant Hamon's father. I would love to share information.

John Hamon of 1685 had sons Ambrose, William, John and Charles. And what I have found, William son of John named one of his sons Ambrose. Johns father was Ambrose of 1647. So the name is carried on by 2 sons, that I know of. Rev.William Hamon(Hammond) and Ambrose of 1725.

Minerva was the d/o Samuel Howland, was from NY, and later she married a John Wetherwax in LaSalle Co., IL. Benjamin and Minerva had a son, Samuel Hamon, who married Susan E. Here is what I know for the moment. Frank Hamon was the brother of my g-grand-father Benjamin Hamon. Their parents were William Hamon and Elisabeth Bacon and they were living in Barachois, Gaspésia area in Québec. They had 3 sisters, Victoria, Odile and Brigitte. That's about all I have for now!

I am sorry I really can't answer any of your questions but you did get me curious with your story. You see my g-grand-father's name was Benjamin Hamon and I have no idea and could not find either where his origins are from. His parents' names were William Hamon and Elisabeth Bacon. Sounds pretty english to me even though they all lived in Gapesia, Québec the exact place is named Barachois previously called Bridgeville. Should you have any further information I'd appreciate. I don't think your John is the same as the one I was referring to. John Hamon (mine) was born in 1883 in Craighead Co. Ark. His parents were Esaw(Esau)Hamon and Matilda Wooldridge. Both Esaw and Matilda were born in 1849. Thanks anyway...good luck with your search.

A daughter Marie-Rosa married ARthur Dicaire in British Columbia in 1919, my son-in-law`s grandparents. I had reached a dead end with Maurice and Anne Daupley. The funeral was in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Ethel Hamon was married to Claude Berry. Her parents were Grant Hamon and Mary Simpson. The other children in the family were Mabel, Pearl, Lena, Joe, and Willis.

Yes, that was my dad - Ode Hamon. I was trying to get my mom to help me with the Hamon connection. But she's 83 and forgetting a lot. There is a Bob Hamon, 1123 S. Osage Ave in Okmulgee who's father was a 1/2 brother to Daddy. Bob drove the Coka-Cola truck and Daddy worked at a food market. They would see each other about once a week. Dad's father had a family with another woman before he married my grandmother (Dad's Mom) Whew! Bob's telephone # is (918) 756-3893 and he may know the connection to Ethel Berry. The odd thing is my uncle Jim Hamon married someone named Ethel - but she BECAME Ethel Hamon. I really had a time explaining that one to Mom.

My g/gf was born in Wilkes Co NC in 1803, Married Suannah Hayes in 1823. I have been seeking the name of his parents and siblings for some time without success. These are Hamons that could be his father, Benjamin, John(B:1852), Joseph (B:1853), Robert(B:1862) and William. These all lived in the same District 9, Samuel Johnson District.
I have some clues that John Hamon is my g/gf but no proof yet. Thanks for your post

I have traced the name as far back as 1066ad when Duke William of Normandy invaded England and defeated English King Harold
(Battle of Hastings) Seigneur de Creveoer Hamon was his Dapifer (stewerd) Norman Kings ruled England for about 300 years. The homeland for the name appears to be the Isle of Jersey where there are over 500 records of births, marriages and deaths recorded in the 12 parishes of Jersey.

Where was the funeral held of Ethel Hamon Berry? My uncle Jim Hamon was married to an Ethel. They had one son, Ralph Hamon, four daughters: Velma & Zelma (twins), Dovie and Faye.

According to the notes he left me in his bible their father was actually Jeremiah "Jerry" Franklin Hamon and mother Sarah Ann Moler. His notes about his parents and siblings were as follows:

Hello, I saw your and C. Love's post on the Hamons. I am working on the Hamons and Simpsons of Newton Co. AR. From what I can tell Grant Hamon was the son of Eli Hamon and his 2nd wife Clarinda Moore, per the 1870 Missouri census. Eli had at least 3 wives, an unknown, Clarinda, and Rachel. Do either of you have anything on the children of the first marriage? I am trying to follow the lines of Reuben and Alvin.

Hollie: I'm helping a friend look for relatives. His Grandfather was Dave (David) Hammon (Hamon)/ Grandmother Maudie Ailey Hammon (Hamon), Creek County, OK. Their son was Robert Lee Hamon born in Milfay, OK. Mother was Betty Sue Brown (Hamon). Have you heard of these names in your searches?

I am trying to find information on the Hamon origins of my family. My great grandfather was Grant Hamon. When my grandmother, Ethel Hamon Berry died, an Ode Hamon signed her furneral book.

Could this be the same Ode Hamon.
