III (Mary DiGiandomenico), of Coraopolis, Heidi, of Northern, Calif., Erik, of Chicago, and Brian, of Cranberry, stepfather of Shannon (Jerry) Gaycheck, of Ohio, and Brendan Jones of Ohio; survived by six grandchildren, Marielle and Austin Hampe, of Coraopolis, Patience Vogt, of Northern, Calif., James Gaycheck, of Ohio, Kailyn Hampe, of Cranberry, and Jessica Jones, of Ohio; sister of Jacquelyn Bolla, of the West End. Hampes in Pennsylvania

I am searching for Hampes in Pennsylvania. They came from Germany and settled in the Holsopple, Hooversville, Myersville, Somerset areas of Pennsylvania. Charles Hampe married Elizabeth Merley (or Marley). I believe Charles' father was named Lewis (or Louis). Charles and Elizabeth had a son Edward Louis (or Lewis) Hampe (born 4/13/1880 in Rockwood, PA) and a daughter Rebecca (whose married name was Conn). I am not sure if there were any other children. From what I can gather, Charles Hampe came to America from Germany, returned to Germany, and then came back to America. I have no further information on him. I also heard that he had two marriages. Charles would be my Great Grandfather. I am having real difficulty going back further than Charles. I have found no information on him other than the few pieces of information in famly archives.

Let me introduce myself. I am Robert L. Hampe. I believe that I am your great uncle. I have two brothers, Carl E. Hampe and Ross A. Hampe. Carl had two children, Dennis Hampe, and Belinda Hampe, I believe to be your mother. My sister-in-laws name was known to me as Betty Downing, changed later on to (Lysa). Betty and Carl Hampe divorced while living in Phoenix AZ, I think. Your great grand mothers name, is Helen Hampe. Your great Grand fathers name is Carl R. Hampe. I have a Hampe in my tree from Western Australia..Frederick William. Not sure of Birth date..but a wild guess is about 1890. Have a feeling he was born here as he assisted a friend or relative into the country from Germany in the 1920's by the name of Frieda Linke and daughter Hannah.

There sure are a lot more Hampe's than I thought there were. I have a cousin that spells it "Hempe" and one who spells it "Hempt". Another possible spelling is "Hempl". Did your family originate from Germany? My Hampe family had lived in Germany and than moved to Denmark. So far I don't have your family names in my tree. Good luck in finding your "roots".

Hi James, I know how you feel to find info. This was the 1st time in went on "Hampe" board. Have done a lot with my
maiden name "Mooers' trying to find my gr.grandfather, Joshua's parents. No luck.
I have picture of Gene and Frances with my Aunt Theresa in
1973. Other Dieckert pictures in old family photo albums.
I have post card from 1912 which was written by my Aunt Theresa
to her mother who was visiting "Aunt Lina" in Brooklyn.

Hi Your message was a long time ago but I'm pretty sure your ggrandmother and my grandmother were sisters. Born in "Lingen on der Ems, Hanover, Deutchland" May 1, 1857.
Her name was Maria Engelina Veronica Hampe.
Married John A. Dieckert geb.Hessen Germany February 4, 1854.
They were married in NY 1887 or 1884 not sure of handwriting.
3 chil.: John August Dieckert Jan. 25, 1880,Brooklyn
John Conrad Dieckert March 17, 1886,Brooklyn
Eugenius A.(not sure of name) Dieckert Dec. 6, 1895,
Brooklyn. These were all handwirtten notes from my Grandmother. My grandmother was Dorothea Anna Hampe.
She lived in South Boston and Dorchester, Massachusetts.
I have their parents names etc..

The name Hampe was i think originali Ampe, its a common name here in West Flanders, Belgium especialy among farmers.
Your great uncle was maried with Rosalie Witdouck, that's a rare name. It was originaly Withoek (Dutch) but changed after the french came in, into Witdouck what looks more French.
I do a litle research in my rare free time about the Witdouck.

Great Aunt: Anne Hampe (Altenbaugh)
Great Aunt: Margaret Hampe (Hazlett)

Unfortunately, at the time of typing this I was unable to contact my Uncle to find out more about Aunt Anne. I do know her husband worked the railroad and that he died before I ever had an oppurtunity to know or remember him. Unfortunately, all of the "Great" generation has passed away. My uncle did pay to have a genology search done, but never saw a copy. Did get a copy of the "Family" crest.

Drop me a line if this might be the same person. We all live in the Pittsburgh area still.

I do not have much info but I do know there were Hampes in and/or near Terre Haute , IN. I have found a Margaret Hampe in Vigo county born Oct. 29, 1915 and died Jan. 23, 1993. This woman was my mothers Aunt. I am still looking for more info regarding Margaret' s husband and his parents. I hope this info is some good to you!

Hi, I have been able to trace the Hampe Family back to Denmark and Germany.
I have recently found out that my Grandfather had two sisters, Pella Emily.
My Grandfathers parents were Adolf Nicolai Christoffer Hampe and Anna Sofia Martensson and
they lived in Allinge, Bornholm, Denmark. Have you been able to trace any of the Hampe family,

They had 8 children, Vilhelmine Marie Lovise, Vilhelm Martin Adolf Hampe, Adolf Nicolai Christoffer Hampe, Julius Ferdinand Theodor hampe, Caroline Frederikke Dorthea Hampe, Augusta Cathrine Hampe, Christian Otto Hampe and a stillborn son.

Seeking any information on Hannah C. Hampe b. circa 13 Nov. 1803 supposedly in Hanover, Germany. She emigrated with husband Henry Christian Helmbrecht between 1834-1839. They possibly emigrated with other Hampe relatives. They settled in Cussewago Twsp., Crawford co., PA. Hannah died 8 May 1883.

I have been waiting for someone to find this for a long time!
It sure sounds like it's the same family, although some of the dates are just a little different such my grandfather was born Jan 26, 1879, but it might not be correct since my father wasn't sure on all of the details. All he really knew was that Eugene lived in or around Boston and he never really saw or knew him or his kids. He knew he had two kids...Eugene and Francis. Please email me with any more info that you have and I can do the same with what I have if you want to compare.

DiAnn, My name is Carl Hampe, my father's and my grandfather's names were Carl Hampe. I haven't been able to find any information on Hampes at all. My grandfather moved from Chicago to St. Louis in the 1930's. I have no idea where my Hampes came from before that. Recently I found a picture of my father as a young man visiting "relatives" in Indiana or Iowa, I think, but I don't know anything about them.

If anyone reading this message board has information on Hampes in the Midwest, I'd like to hear from them.

I'm researching: Hampe, Downing, McMahan, Ross, Shields from Missouri, primarily.

My father, Byrl Delmar Hampe said that his uncle died on the titanic. I looked it up and it was so. Also, his father Nathan came here from Germany. I have a slew of Hampe cousins in Watsontown, Montgomery, and Muncy, Pa.

Only info I have is that she was married to John Adolf Dieckert and Lived at 1494 2nd Ave. in Manhattanin 1879. She had three sons August J., John and Eugene P. Hi, my maiden name is Hampe, I have a great grandfather named Carl G. Hampe who lived in Massachusetts and played in the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 21 years. I don't know the exact date of his birth, but my father Russell Hampe was born in 1915, so I figure Carl was born sometime in the late 1800's.
