Updating my info on the Hampshire family of Thornhill..
I have Henry Hampshire born c1825/26 to James Hampshire and ?? (possible Johanna Fisher)
have now tracked several Hampshire males..all Stone Masons from Thornhill to the Lancashire/Yorkshire border in and around the Saddleworth area..
My Henry is first found at Knuckitt(Watersheddings)Oldham in 1841 with Abraham and Mary Hamshire..i suspect this is his older brother as Abraham and Mary are only 25 and Henry is 13 yrs. with this family is Rachel Asquith aged 15.
Henry and Abraham are again found together in 1851..this time Henry is a visitor to Abraham now widowed..Henry has with him my GtGtGrandmother Sally also my GtGrandfather James then aged 1 yr..
Now they are at Higher Fold,Hazelhurst.Ashton-u-Lyne.
I have copies of marriages of Henry to Sally Winterbottom in 1846, also that of Abraham Hampshire to Mary Shaw also 1846..in both cases the father is given as James Hampshire- Stonemason..
Is there anyone out there that might be able to give me any further info on this family....?
Have found a possible match on the 1841 with James Hampshire (Farmer/Stonemason) with wife Johanna....no Henry but then if he was their son he was already in Oldham with his older brother..
Any Baptisms would be wonderful to confirm or disprove........
