Nancy J. Purcell and Jemima Purcell were sisters and their brother, John, is my ancestor. Valentine and Wilson Hampton may possibly be brothers. Both families seem to have gone to Jackson Co. MO in the 1840's and some of them been there during the Civil War when all county citizens had to evacuate the county. From 1880 census it looks like one of Wilson's sons had moved to San Luis Obispo, CA. Looks like Valentine and Jemima and four sons and one daughter also moved there in 1870's. These were George W., William A., Rinaldo, and Fronte J. and sister Mary A. (Mrs. James Hogue.) James W. Hampton was probably Wilson and Nancy's child and lived in CA in 1880.
