BLACKSBURG - Kenneth Lee Hamrick, 68, of 670 Tribal Road died Aug. 3, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Asheville, N.C.
A native of Cherokee County, he was the husband of Katherine McComas Hamrick of the home and son of the late Hatcher and Annie Lois Neal Hamrick.
He was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon. He was retired from Texfi Textile in York and was a veteran of the Army, having served during the Korean War. He was past senior vice-commander of the Jack Daniel Post of the DAV in Gaffney and was a volunteer at the VA Medical Center in Asheville, where he helped organize the Cake Run.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Cindy H. Jolly of Gaffney, Angela H. Smith of Brunswick, Ga.; two brothers, James Hatcher Hamrick and Carl Edward Hamrick, both of Blacksburg; two sisters, Geneva H. Roark of Blacksburg and Helen H. Parker of Bessemer City, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at White Columns Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Paran Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Chris Ozment. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home of Ed and Winona Hamrick, 633 Tribal Road, Blacksburg.
Memorials may be made to Mt. Paran Baptist Church Building Fund, 105 Mt. Paran Road, Blacksburg, S.C., 29702.
